    Main Purpose:

    Provision of proactive human resources services to the Impala Terminal in Rotterdam, within the global guidelines and minimum standards of the ITG group, to make the Rotterdam Terminal an employer of choice (attract, develop and retain the best qualified, effective and motivated work-force). Responsible for providing in-country support to the General Manager, management team and employees on HR matters (not limited to): HR generalist activities, administration and HR compliance, Workday data management, recruitment, induction and onboarding, talent, succession and retention, learning and (leadership) development, performance management, disciplinary and grievance matters, terminations as well as reward / benefits and payroll related activities. Will provide the interface with the HR shared service center, taking ownership of those administrative processes that need to be initiated in-country. Actively manages the in-country (local) collective labour relations (Works Council and potential labor union related) matters. Is the custodian for the development and embedding of Company culture.

    Mandatory Education:

  • Bachelor level degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR (generalist) experience in medium to large Dutch companies, preferably multinational with multi-cultural and within unionized environments.
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory obligations and compliance
  • Strong experience in employee / industrial relations including Works Counsels
  • Good sound knowledge of Human Resources related programs, processes, tools, policies, guidelines and best practices and their application to complex organizational issues
  • Knowledge of applicable employment law and regulations.
  • Knowledge of organizational concepts, including: team management, organizational design, resource utilization and workforce planning.
  • Computer literacy essential - MS Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) and HR systems

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and implement effective HR processes, tools and systems to ensure proper HR support to the organization.
  • Prepare and after approval actively manages the HR budget and (strategic) workforce planning.
  • Assist in implementation of the Global and Regional HR functional strategy and initiatives.
  • Form and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond timeously to all HR related requests / enquiries (e.g. phone, facsimile, email, in writing or in person) in a professional and efficient manner. Initiates queries relating to Compensation & Benefit administration, Leave, Payroll, Performance Management, Recruitment, Relocation & Work permits / visas and accuracy of Workday either in country or through HR Shared Services.
  • Tracks / keep proper record and manages all requests and queries, providing actions and updates to relevant parties.
  • Ensure timeous and accurate submission of payroll input to HR Shared Service and review of output.
  • Provide standard accurate reports as and when required (e.g. absenteeism, staff movement, vacancy reports etc.) to Management.
  • Be a trusted business partner in providing HR advice, support and administration to Terminal Management and employees on people issues and organizational concerns, escalating serious or strategic issues.
  • Ensures HR reporting on HR KPI's to monitor and navigate people and organizational performance following global and local policies
  • Ensuring local implementation of global HR policies.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to line managers in the interpretation and consistent application implementation of HR policies and procedures and best practices, such as management of poor performance, absenteeism, sick leave and disciplinary cases.
  • Initiates the timeous recruitment of resources as and when required, schedule, coordinate and facilitate interviews.
  • Facilitates the contracting, enrollment /on-boarding and induction / orientation process for new employees.
  • Driving local talent management program and career planning for employees. Promoting cross learning within the Impala network.
  • Delivers transactional processing and administrative services in country in line with in-country responsibilities whilst liaising with HRSS on offshore administration. Ensuring integrity of HR information and data at all times.
  • Learning and Development – Coordinates, source and facilitates training activities as per operational requirements.
  • Performance management – Drive the performance management process and assist line managers as and when required.
  • Champions HSSE as a personal value and ensures HSSE is promoted in-country in terms of actions and decisions. Maintain awareness of HSSE legislation and implements action plans to improve HSSE performance and compliance.
  • Actively supports the development and embedding of the Company's (leadership) culture.
  • Continually identifies opportunities for improving processes, business efficiencies and customer service.
  • Employee relations – Oversees compliance with applicable employment law and policy implementation in country/region, minimize disputes, foster employee and/or trade union engagement and build trust.
  • Promote harmonious and business effective relations with internal and external stakeholders, such as but not limited to employee representation and industrial relations.
  • Coordinate employee wellness programs / initiatives.
  • Collate and maintain Company communication and engagement platforms and channels with employees.
  • Equity and Diversity – demonstrate leadership and commitment to the Company's core values.
  • Key Relationships and Department Overview:

  • Internal – Regional HR Leadership, HR Shared Services, Line Managers, Country General Manager, Managers, Supervisors and terminal employees, Employee Representation (Works Council).
  • External – Government organizations i.e. Labor / Employment Offices, Regulatory Authorities, trade union(s), service providers (i.e. Recruitment agencies, Medical aid), legal counsel, candidates.
