Main Purpose:


Provision of proactive human resources services to the Impala Terminal in Rotterdam, within the global guidelines and minimum standards of the ITG group, to make the Rotterdam Terminal an employer of choice (attract, develop and retain the best qualified, effective and motivated work-force).

Responsible for providing in-country support to the General Manager, management team and employees on HR matters (not limited to): HR generalist activities, administration and HR compliance, Workday data management, recruitment, induction and onboarding, talent, succession and retention, learning and (leadership) development, performance management, disciplinary and grievance matters, terminations as well as reward / benefits and payroll related activities.

Will provide the interface with the HR shared service center, taking ownership of those administrative processes that need to be initiated in-country.

Actively manages the in-country (local) collective labour relations (Works Council and potential labor union related) matters. Is the custodian for the development and embedding of Company culture.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities,

Key Responsibilities:

Mandatory Education:

  • Bachelor level degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR (generalist) experience in medium to large Dutch companies, preferably multinational with multicultural and within unionized environments.
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory obligations and compliance
  • Strong experience in employee / industrial relations including Works Counsels
  • Knowledge of applicable employment law and regulations.
  • Knowledge of organizational concepts, including: team management, organizational design, resource utilization and workforce planning.


  • Computer literacy essential

  • MS Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) and HR systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and implement effective HR processes, tools and systems to ensure proper HR support to the organization.
  • Prepare and after approval actively manages the HR budget and (strategic) workforce planning.
  • Assist in implementation of the Global and Regional HR functional strategy and initiatives.
  • Form and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tracks / keep proper record and manages all requests and queries, providing actions and updates to relevant parties.
  • Ensure timeous and accurate submission of payroll input to HR Shared Service and review of output.
  • Provide standard accurate reports as and when required (e.g. absenteeism, staff movement, vacancy reports etc.) to Management.
  • Be a trusted business partner in providing HR advice, support and administration to Terminal Management and employees on people issues and organizational concerns, escalating serious or strategic issues.
  • Ensures HR reporting on HR KPI's to monitor and navigate people and organizational performance following global and local policies
  • Ensuring local implementation of global HR policies.
  • Initiates the timeous recruitment of resources as and when required, schedule, coordinate and facilitate interviews.
  • Facilitates the contracting, enrollment /onboarding and induction / orientation process for new employees.
  • Driving local talent management program and career planning for employees. Promoting cross learning within the Impala network.
  • Delivers transactional processing and administrative services in country in line with incountry responsibilities whilst liaising with HRSS on offshore administration. Ensuring integrity of HR information and data at all times.
