    The Team

    In this role, you will join a team of 28 colleagues from the Programmes team; you will be coached by the Director of Programmes. You will also be working closely with our colleagues from Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning as well as Partnership Development.

    Your role at Simavi

    As programme manager you will be responsible for maintaining a productive relation with CSO in specific countries. Trust is key in building up effective partnerships. You will collaborate with these partners in the execution of their projects and programmes, liaise with them to ensure we follow our partnership principles, and uphold agreements on accountability and transparency. Both towards the donor, as well as to the ultimate stakeholder, and last but not least – to each other.

    As Programme Manager you coordinate wider partnership teams, including partners (senior, technical and YEP staff).You also include relevant Simavi staff to support and bring in their expertise on advocacy and campaign work, PMEL, fundraising and communication. We apply an evidence-informed approach, therefore you will also coordinate programme learning trajectories and link specific thematic and country expertise that contribute to realising the Theory of Change of the programme. You will guide the selection of relevant innovative new ideas and support the in-country piloting, evaluation and upscaling.

    You are also key in profiling Simavi and developing programmes for fundraising. You will lead the content development of new projects and programmes and collaborate with CSO partners in the co-creation process. You identify and convert opportunities to spark Simavi's credibility and visibility at key national and international conferences and events.

    Your result areas

    1. Programme Management:

  • Lead successful programmes, from design, planning, implementation to evaluation in order to achieve the greatest impact possible, in line with our mission and vision
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary and international programme teams in the different programme phases
  • Establish and maintain effective and trust-based relations with CSO partners in different countries as well as current and potential funding partner
  • Co-create new projects and programmes with CSO partners, and support writing new funding proposals in line with our Theory of Change and long term strategy, including how we can shift, share and shape our power – to the benefit of women and girls as our ultimate stakeholders.

    • 2. Programme Development

  • Participate in relevant network events in the Netherlands and internationally to profile Simavi
  • Identify opportunities for fundraising on key thematic area's (climate change and adaptation, gender and water and sanitation)
  • Prepare – in close cooperation with colleagues in the Netherlands and overseas – programmes and proposals to submit for funding
  • Strengthen and support Simavi's capacity to develop impactful programmes
  • Work closely with Programme Officers and Programme Managers in identifying opportunities and support them in developing innovative programmes, eligible for external funding

    • What you bring

  • You have a relevant academic level of education.
  • You have at least 10 years of relevant working experience in the sector, of which at least three years of relevant working experience with an (international) NGO – preferably in a leading role in a strategic partnership.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with rights- and justice-based approaches.
  • You stand your ground and feel comfortable to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • You are proactive, self-reliant, goal-oriented and entrepreneurial.
  • You have a strategic mindset with some strong communication skills, within a multicultural context.
  • You can represent Simavi at national and international events and have experience in public speaking and moderating public events;
  • You are fluent in English, our common working language, and are able to vividly communicate about the programmes with current and future (funding) partners of Simavi.

    We offer a contract for 6 months for 32 to 36 hours per week with possible extension (sick leave replacement). The salary we offer depends on the years of working experience you bring along and will be within the salary range of € 3685- and € 5356- gross per month on a fulltime basis of 36 hours per week. The position in the salary scale depends on the number of relevant years of working experience. Furthermore, part of our terms of employment are: 5 weeks vacation per year, 8% holiday allowance, commuting allowance (as of the first kilometre), a pension insurance and a disability insurance.

    Our office is located at Naritaweg 135, which is a 5 minutes' walk from train station Amsterdam Sloterdijk. We also work hybrid, with 2 days in the office, and the rest from home.
