Are you an enthusiastic business development adviser or project manager (2-3 years of experience) looking for your next challenge? De Brauw is looking for an energetic individual who enjoys spotting and utilising opportunities for building strategic partnerships with our clients, by connecting the dots between people, legal expertise and our clients' needs.


This role


This is a role within our Client Relations team, based in Amsterdam, that is part of the broader Business Development department which also includes our Pitching, Pricing & Analytics, Client Events and International Relations teams.

In this role you will report to the Lead Client Relations.


In this role you will support the legal teams to set business development strategies and goals and help them design, implement and monitor their marketing efforts - both by leading discussions on strategic levels as well by offering daily operational support.

You will also help maintaining and improving initiatives that benefit our firm's ability to manage client accounts and other external relations, with special attention for our key client programme.

You will connect with relevant stakeholders in Legal and in the broader BD team.

Working together closely with the involved colleagues, you will provide practical support, strategic insights and content at all points of this process.


In short you will collaborate closely with lawyers and other BD team members across the network to ensure the firm capitalises on key trends and opportunities across our client base.


The key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Supporting various practice areas and advising the Practice Area leadership teams on the implementation of their business development strategy
  • Supporting these practice areas on identifying opportunities to serve the needs of existing and new clients and developing and implementing plans to leverage that growth potential
  • Supporting lawyers in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including assisting on the production of pitches, responses to RFPs and capability statements, frequently collaborating with the pitching and pricing team
  • Collaborating closely with the Client Relations advisers on crossexpertise strategic projects to leverage growth potential in client sectors and practice service lines. Monitor market developments and gather market intelligence
  • Overseeing league table and legal directory submissions to raise our external profile, in close collaboration with the practice groups and legal advisers team
  • Client relationship management responsibility for one or more major firm wide clients.

You?
Do you recognise yourself in the following description?

  • An academic degree (bachelor or master)
  • Two to three years* of demonstrated business development, sales or marketing experience, preferably in a professional services environment or law firm
  • You display a strong commercial awareness, able to identify opportunities to deliver on strategic goals.
  • You are a selfstarter, who can advise on a strategic level and set up the groundwork yourself.
  • You have a deep knowledge of business development principles, and the ability to translate these to both online and offline initiatives as appropriate.
  • You inspire confidence with an enthusiastic approach and an approachable professional manner.
  • You can build relationships quickly at all levels, able to liaise with internal stakeholders confidently, advising them as to content and process.
  • You have and enjoy excellent project management skills.
  • You aim to always exceed expectations, have eye for detail and are willing to go the extra mile
  • You see yourself as a proactive selfstarter, who is motivated to contribute on both the strategic and operational level.
