    About Our Client

    Our client is a well-known international organisation which promotes sustainability on a global level and in a wide range of industries committing to address global environmental, social, and governance challenges.

    To reinforce their team, they are looking for a Communications Director who would be based either in Geneva, Amsterdam or London.

    Job Description

    The Communications Director leads the Communications Pillar.

    This individual is responsible for the development and delivery of a communications strategy focused on maintaining and enhancing the community reputation as a trusted, collaborative and action-oriented reference for lifecycle issues.
    This role will manage the external relations program for that seeks to increase both public awareness and awareness in the science community and supports programs and activities.

    The Communications Director will:

  • Coordinates the definition of the communication strategy
  • To develops, direct and implement strategic internal and external communications efforts, massaging platforms, including digital content and web, that increase understanding and support of the programs, projects and activities.
  • To coordinate and facilitate communications Co-Chair development of biennial communications workplans and lead the process toward the validation of the workplan with the ability to synthetize complex information/data and translate them into concise content
  • To lead the execution of the communication strategy
  • To ensure delivery of the communications work workplan
  • To direct the development and editing of content (for various publications, including news releases, feature articles, news stories, postings, reports and other communication which highlight programs, accomplishments for dissemination to print and broadcast media sources, social media and web-based sources
  • To ensure messaging is consistent, timely and relevant by directing the development and maintenance of a global digital repository of communications messaging
  • To evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external information (key communications approaches, deliverables), media and external relations.
  • To prepare informative materials, scripts and speeches and other communications for communications ambassadors (members, Assurance Group)
  • To assume the role of spokesperson for the community
  • To provide communication counsel and guidance to the executive director and organization
  • To build and foster relationships with key figures, journalists, science community and other influencers
  • To serve as a liaison and collaborator with regional trade associations to facilitate and ensure consistency in messaging and strategic approach to discussing challenges affecting the industry The Successful Applicant
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related (sustainability) field. A master's degree in the aforementioned disciplines is desirable
  • At least 10 years of professional-level experience in managing a communications, public relations, or related program, which must have included experience with various media sources such as social media, web based, broadcast, and printmedia.
  • Experience with legislative, legal and regulatory activities is desirable
  • A specialization in sustainability, manufacturing industry and/or the natural sciences is a distinct advantage.
  • Principles of communications and public relations and its role in advancing an organizational agenda
  • Methods and techniques of preparing and disseminating news releases and securing media placements
  • Design content and production of public/science community relations materials
  • Presenting concepts effectively verbally and in writing
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; skills in Japanese and/or Korean is an advantage
  • Digital tech savvy
  • Detail-oriented with good project-management skills, and excellent analytical and organizational abilities
  • Achieving the understanding and support of individuals or groups with indifferent or opposing points of view
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and Content Management System
  • Lead, motivate, direct, train, and develop other What's on Offer
