  • Pohl, R., et. al Highresolution imaging of ejection dynamics in laserinduced forward transfer. In Proceedings of SPIE the international society for optical engineering; Vol SPIE.

Your Challenge

  • Develop specialized measurement systems based on spatial, optical and spectral characterization for laser cladding setup with coaxial and/or offaxis powder injection,
  • Design, construct and realize optomechanical systems in the laboratory,
  • Establish a more accurate, realtime (multi) sensorbased monitoring approach to characterize melt pool spatiotemporally as well as spectrothermally,
  • Develop algorithms for sensor fusion using Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning concepts to optimize strategies and realtime feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers in other groups at the University of Twente.
State-of
- the-art laser facilities are available at the Chair of Laser Processing. We foster an environment of collaborative innovation and intellectual curiosity while continually challenging ourselves to expand the boundaries of our creativity.

Your profile:

  • You have a Master's degree, preferably with distinction (or international equivalent) in Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline;
  • Experience in (realtime) imaging and/or realtime spectroscopy is required.
  • Knowledge of fundamental aspects of lasermaterial processing, as well as applied knowledge in laser based material processing techniques are preferred.
  • Good knowledge/demonstrated awareness of sensor fusion and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Deep Learning concepts is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment and undertake experimental research.
  • Excellent analysis skills and an analytical mind
- set, as well as excellent communication skills, including written.

  • English language proficiency. If you have not graduated in a country where English is the first language, then you will need to demonstrate your English proficiency by having passed IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum overall score for IELTS is at least 6.5 with no component being below 5.
  • We encourage a high degree of responsibility and independence, while collaborating with close colleagues, researchers and other staff.
Unleash your potential in cutting-edge research
