    Local Unit & Position Description

    Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe. Area Benelux & France includes all operational classification business in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Monaco and Switzerland and consist of ~80 employees in eight locations. The Area operates with three Service Lines, Certification and Verification of Materials and Components (CMC/VMC) and Newbuilding (NB), while the Fleet in Service (FiS) Service Line is organized as part of business unit FiS West Europe.

    We are looking for an Area Finance manager to join our Area Management team. This is a key role for the Area and you will be expected to act as advisor to the Area Manager in matters related to finance and business performance. You will also collaborate with other Area Finance Managers within the Region and have a dotted reporting line to the Regional Finance Manager on relevant topics. The role includes line management responsibility for one Team Leader, heading the Business Support team for the Area, and two more direct reports.

    Main Tasks :

  • Manage and coordinate the period-end closing activities, the quarterly forecast and the annual target-setting process for the Area and FIS units in a timely and efficient manner, with special emphasis on quality and in close collaboration with the local management
  • Report financial information to the Area Manager, Regional Finance Manager and GSS Finance.
  • To work with a range of production and finance systems, including Oracle Finance, Nauticus Production System (NPS), Nauticus Certification (NCert), Power BI and more
  • Support in daily operations, including regular review of project performance, analyses and improvement initiatives
  • Being a commercial Business Partner to the organization for any customer offer ensures alignment with our commercial goals and standards and thereby helps to create compelling customer offers.
  • Provide the Service Line Managers with financial performance updates and support them in achieving their financial targets.
  • Support in the Business review processes, control, follow up and improve local financial practices.
  • Report and drive improvement actions on the balance sheet, specifically the Accounts Receivables and Work in Progress
  • Responsible for analyses related to performance, customer performance, project performance, staff utilisation, service and segment performance
  • Drive the culture and competence for commercial aspects in the operations.
  • Support the implementation and effective use of tools and processes.
  • Participate in internal reviews and audits.
  • Some project-controlling activities may be required.
  • Be a point of contact for GSS and external auditors.

    • All leadership appointments in Region West Europe are for 2 years initially, undergoing a review for prolongation during the regular MIP process.

    Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in finance related position
  • Experience with line management is an advantage but not a pre-requisite
  • Relevant business experience, best within the maritime sector
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Oracle Finance, would be an advantage
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Fluent business English
