    Functieomschrijving

    Als productontwikkelaar zal je deel uitmaken van ons Global R&D Innovation Team, gevestigd in Dinteloord (Noord-Brabant, Nederland), en rapporteer je aan de Global R&D Innovation Manager. Je bent een hands-on voedingstechnoloog met een sterke affiniteit voor bakkerij en/of een ervaren (test) bakker. Ook werk je graag op diverse raakvlakken:

  • tussen praktisch hands-on en analytisch denken
  • tussen de serene proefbakkerij en een hectische productieruimte
  • tussen kleurrijke marketing en rationele productontwikkeling

    Exploratie & conceptontwikkeling

    Je gaat nieuwe ingrediënten onderzoeken op hun toepassingsmogelijkheden in bakkerij en banket. Je bent niet alleen nieuwsgierig en creatief, maar werkt ook nauwkeurig met zin voor detail en observatie.

    Je werkt aan concepten van prille haalbaarheid tot succesvolle marktlancering. Daarbij houd je rekening met vele kritische aspecten, variërend van applicatie-eigenschappen, beheersing van kosten, verbetering van voedingswaarde, optimale smaak- en textuurbeleving tot en met het verhogen van robuustheid en procestolerantie van nieuwe recepten.

    Opschaling & validatie

    Je bent een teamspeler en ondersteunt op projectmatige wijze de implementatie van innovatieve concepten in onze fabrieken en bij onze klanten. Dit doe je samen met collega's van R&D, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Purchase, Supply Chain, Quality en Regulatory.

    Bij marktlanceringen sta je ook in voor de technische begeleiding van R&D-collega's, applicatiechefs en testbakkers.

    Competenties opbouwen en delen

    Je houdt het concurrentieel landschap scherp in de gaten en blijft op de hoogte van technologische ontwikkelingen bij klanten, ingrediëntenleveranciers en apparatenbouwers.

    Enkele belangrijke platformen voor innovatie zijn Gezondheid (verlaging van suikers, zout en (verzadigde) vetten), Clean Label (vervanging van additieven door ingrediënten) en vervanging van dierlijke ingrediënten (eieren, zuivel, gelatine) door plantaardige oplossingen (Vegan en Duurzaamheid).

    Wie zoeken we?

  • Opleiding & ervaring - HBO of Bachelor in Voedingstechnologie. Ook ervaren bakkers of banketbakkers met affiniteit voor exploratie en productontwikkeling worden aangemoedigd te solliciteren. Minimaal 5 jaar werkervaring in een bakkerij- of bakkerijgerelateerde omgeving is een must, waarin je kennis hebt opgedaan rond ingrediënten functionaliteit en/of food processing.
  • Hands-on mentaliteit - Jouw positieve hands-on mentaliteit is cruciaal voor deze functie Je hebt een passie voor bakken, en werkt dus graag in een bakkerij of pilotlijn om nieuwe ingrediënten en recepten te testen. Jouw bijdrage helpt Dawn om resultaten te leveren en oplossingen te bieden aan onze klanten, zowel in het ambachtelijke als in het industriële kanaal.
  • Communicatieve en samenwerkingsvaardigheden - Je hebt sterke communicatieve vaardigheden die je helpen om vlot en resultaatgericht samen te werken met interne en externe stakeholders. Je spreekt vloeiend Engels. Andere talen zijn een pluspunt.

    The Role

    The Product Developer is part of our Global R&D Innovation Team, located in Dinteloord (Noord-Brabant, the Netherlands), and reports to the Global R&D Innovation Manager. You are a hands-on Food Technologist with a strong affinity for bakery and/or an experienced baker. You also like to work on interfaces:

  • between practical work on the bakery floor and analytical thinking
  • between controlled test bakeries and dynamic production premises
  • between sparkling marketing and fact-based product development

    • Key accountabilities

    Hands-on exploration & concept development

    Investigate novel ingredients on their application potential in sweet baked goods. Besides curiosity and creativity, these explorations are driven by accuracy and the ambition to launch concepts with a successful route to market.

    You thereby take into account various critical aspects ranging from application benefits, costing, nutritional value towards taste and texture experience and process tolerance.

    Scale-up & validation

    Supporting scale up of new products from lab to full scale production in a project-oriented manner. You are a team player, supporting implementation of innovative concepts with team members from R&D, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Purchase, Supply Chain, Quality and Regulatory.

    You also contribute to commercial launches by giving technical guidance to R&D colleagues and application chefs.

    Building & sharing competences

    Continuously screening the competitive landscape and staying abreast of technological developments at ingredient suppliers and competitors.

    Some major platforms for innovation are Health (reducing sugars, salt and (saturated ) fats), Cleaner Label (replacing additives by ingredients) and replacing animal derived ingredients (eggs, dairy, gelatin) by plant based solutions (Vegan, Sustainability).

    Who are we looking for?

  • Education & experience – HBO or Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology. Also well-trained and experienced bakers or confectioners with affinity towards exploration.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in a bakery or bakery related environment is a must, during which you also gained knowledge in ingredients functionality and/or food processing.
  • Hands-on mentality - Having a positive hands-on mentality is crucial for this job You are passionate about baking, loving to work in a bakery or pilot line and eager to test and validate new ingredients and recipes. Your contribution helps Dawn to deliver results and provide solutions to our customers, both in the artisanal and industrial channels.
  • Communication and collaboration skills - You have strong communication skills which promote a smooth and result-driven cooperation with internal and external stakeholders. You are fluent in English in word and preferably also in writing. Any other languages are a plus.
  • Curiosity & sharing - Constantly searching for new information and novel ways to use established wisdom and capabilities. As a team player, you share knowledge and expertise freely to support your colleagues in order to achieve success together.
