As a department Manager for Standards & Documentation, you are responsible for managing and implementing documentation related to maritime standards and guidelines. This will be achieved with various teams and stakeholders to ensure that documentation and the processes related to implementation of these documents will be successful and meets the highest standards. This mainly concerns making standardization information available in the form of (instruction) manuals, drawings, prepares the non-asbestos declarations and Green Passports. This department will participate in the Rules & Regulations committee to monitor, communicate and follow-up the international maritime standards including the platform tools to facilitate these maritime standards. The Rules and Regulations committee consists also of Engineering (chairman of this meeting) , Strategic Procurement and Product Group. The department is part of the Supply Chain organization within Damen Workboats, however acting as a shared activity for several divisions within the Damen GroupThe role
Together with the team you are responsible for realizing documentation activities in an effective and efficient way. You are the business process owner of continuous improvements within the department. This means the change to another ERP and or PLM platform and optimize process and tools related to these documentation activities. This includes recording, maintaining and actively promoting the International Maritime Standards. These standards include Technical Documentation for all Damen Shipyards Divisions and (international) sister companies. You will directly manage about 15 employees from Maritime Standards Engineer/ Specialist, Technical Documentalist and an internal international subcontractor which provides services for basic standard tasks. Strong people management skills are important; as Manager Standards & Documentation you are able to coach and guide employees.Key accountabilities
Maintaining Standards
- You will define guidelines for technical documentation, procedure and the applicable processes;
Quality Assurance
-You will monitor the consistency and accuracy of documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable norms;
Collaboration with teams-Stakeholder management
- Working with different departments to ensure that standards are understood and adhered to;
Training and awareness
- Provide training to employees on the application of standards and promoting awareness within the organization;
Continuous Improvement
- Achieve activities on time within budget and first time right;
- Set-up yearly plans for budget, team development and improvements
Skills & experience
Management experience; you are a leader with strong people management skills;
