    Main Purpose:

    Responsible for leading and guiding all Operations staff in the terminal in a safe, efficient, reliable and incident-free operations. Maintain control of the principle operational parameters.

    •SAFETY: Ensure good working practices and housekeeping is maintained at the terminal. Responsible for personal Safety and the Safety of others within the working environment

    •ENVIRONMENTAL: Responsible for management and compliance at the Terminal, ensuring Environmental Permits are in place, and renewed prior to expiry.

    •ECONOMIC: Oversee and manage the Operational Budget, including the development, monitoring and reporting of budget allocations to ensure financial efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

    •OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY: Managing Operations staff through Supervisors and others directly to attain operational effectiveness, compliance and financial efficiency

    Safety Critical Responsibilities (Major Accident Hazards):

  • Provide Leadership within the Terminal for Process Safety Management in-line with the core of Impala's culture.
  • Demonstrate Impala's leadership competencies.
  • Ensure the Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) is fully briefed to all subordinates and that their roles in MAH are defined and understood.
  • Support the team to ensure that people individually and collectively achieve their potential in delivering business performance; ensure achievable but stretching objectives are set for individuals which are aligned to business goals.
  • Review Process Safety performance and act to correct any deviations from good practice
  • Ensure competency of staff is appropriate for the tasks they are asked to perform
  • Perform duties as part of the Emergency Management Team as allocated within the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Ensure that the Terminal has appropriate safe systems of work which include but are not limited to:The provision of Suitable Operating Manuals and Procedures at each facility.Systems for Monitoring Operations and ensuring Safe HandoversThe provision of Operational StandardsSystems for Managing Change and ensuring Safe Start-up of Facilities

    • Other Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Responsible for ensuring that all standard company process and procedures are strictly followed by every employee in the terminal.
  • Accountable for the terminal operational performance and for ensuring the Safety, Environmental and quality and quantity of products on the terminal premises; operating and receiving gains/losses are within acceptable limits and resolving issues on product quality and gains/losses.
  • Ensures that the terminal operates within the approved Capex and Opex Budget; continuously drives for cost reduction, improved performance and level of service; coordinates with Engineering in monitoring and completion of Capex and major Opex projects; that projects are delivered on specs and on-time; recommends improvements within the terminals.
  • Responsible/ensures that requirements and policies regarding HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) are in-place and strictly followed; ensures continuous education and improvement of HSSE performance; monitors the development of programs and schedule seminars/training/exercise to all employees in the terminal.
  • Ensures that the terminal meets or exceeds the expectations of all customers; fast and accurate order taking, on-time delivery with the right quantity and on-spec product. Participate in the establishment of pricing into tenders and offers, and contribute to optimizing the supply flows within the terminal.
  • Perform appropriate inspections and audits with the General Manager, HSEQ Manager and terminal operations teams to identify what needs improvement and best practice; recommend actions for items that need improvements and disseminate best practice to other terminals.
  • Take account of regulatory documentation required by local law and be the main point of contact with the local regulatory and fiscal authorities:

    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Experience:

  • 15 years' experience in the industry
  • At least 5 years' experience as a Manager in a major Liquid Petroleum Terminal
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree.
  • 8-10 years of experience related to similar operations, including up to 6-7 years in a leadership role managing or supervising personnel.

    • Skills:

  • Able to use Microsoft Office Suite applications; Presentation tools and programs
  • Knowledge of the international codes and standards in petroleum terminals (product handling, measurement, storage)
  • Knowledgeable in Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Protection
  • Excellent project, planning, change and time management capabilities

    • Competencies:

  • Be a confident presenter able to communicate with a large range of audience types
  • Team player, leader and decision maker
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of logistics options in Rotterdam
