    The Role

    Located in a vibrant, European HQ in the center of Rotterdam is this very well-established, European food organisation, with products that are both loved, bought and consumed by millions of people every day.

    We are currently looking for:

    Category Manager - Trade Marketing Manager

    • Hybrid based in Rotterdam (days/ week in the office)
    • Maternity Cover of around 7 months (could be longer).
    • Start date - between now and March 2024.

    At this organisation Category Management is involved in all the retailer and shopper facing initiatives, so you can actually make a difference in the business

    Job Purpose

    In this temporary role as maternity cover you will be leading the development and implementation of category management and trade marketing strategies for the brands in the Benelux, as well as in Austria.

    Based on your knowledge, insights and analysis you are able to create opportunities and improve business performance. You will do work closely with the (Brand) Marketing Managers, Sales Managers and retail partners.

    In the end it is all about delivery of best-in-class category management and trade marketing to our customers in Austria and The Netherlands and to be their authority in the particular category.

    Core responsibilities

    In this role you are responsible for answering to the needs of the shopper, retailer and our brand consumers to help achieve budgeted and business planned results.

    • Delivery of strategic category plans and translate these into to customer specific actions, planograms and proposals
    • Develop detailed shopper and category insights to drive value for the category and brands .
    • Manage customer and range reviews
    • Analyse (market) data and other sources to provide meaningful reports and analysis internally and to our customers regarding market, category and product developments
    • Assist in new product development (innovation)
    • Develop, deliver and review promotions and (in-store) activation plans
    • Monitor and report in market activity such as store surveys, price and promotion tracking.
    • Be the key internal contact for all category management for the brand

    Ideal Profile

    Knowledge/Experience

    • An experienced category manager / trade marketeer having worked within FMCG / retail for minimum 4-5 years.
    • Knowledge/ expertise of using various data sources (especially with Nielsen (discover), SIS and GFK data).
    • Experience with presenting to retailers.
    • Graduate level. (commercial) Bachelor, University/ Master degree.
    • Dutch and English speaking a must, German a preference.
    • Analytical, can turn data into meaningful strategic insights.
    • Use (shopper) data and insights and to turn these into concrete strategies and action plans
    • Ability to stand strong in conversations with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Persuasive, articulate and astute.
    • Have strong commercial awareness and be able to build effective relationships through appropriate interpersonal skills.
