The California Hospital Association (CHA) seeks an experienced, self-assured leader to serve as its next Vice President of Policy (VP), with a focus on finance and Medi-Cal policy. This is a high-profile, influential leadership position at one of the most highly regarded healthcare associations in the country. CHA is recognized as an advocate for the collective interests of its member organizations and is attuned to every member, both in terms of their individual needs and the collective advocacy priorities. This leader plays a prominent role in shaping healthcare financing and reimbursement policy for the State of California.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Policy (SVP), the new VP will provide leadership on state legislative, regulatory, and administrative issues related to government hospital financing mechanisms such as the Medi-Cal program and general financial issues affecting California hospitals. The VP will lead CHA members in a cohesive effort to develop financing policy and advocacy positions at both the state and federal levels that address the needs of adequate reimbursement for their members. The key to success for the VP will lie in their ability to be a credible and influential expert, building productive relationships and working with a broad and diverse base of constituents, including state policy makers and CHA members. They will regularly interact with hospital and health system executives, developing a clear understanding of their priorities and translating them into CHA policy positions.
CHA seeks candidates who bring significant depth of expertise and experience in Medicaid, either within California or other large states, as well as a firm grasp of other hospital financing programs. They will work in CHA's Sacramento office and garner continued trust and respect among the membership and external stakeholders (legislators, representatives of state government, business leaders, regulatory agencies, opinion leaders, etc.). This is an outstanding opportunity to serve as a key leader of CHA, helping to impact the landscape of healthcare in California for many years to come.
