    A day as a Senior Engineering Manager at bGenius:

    You start the day with a stand-up with your team, where your role is to facilitate, allowing your team to lead the discussion and ensure the right priorities are set. You set your team up for success by empowering your team, promoting problem solving, and strengthening your team cohesion. Following the stand-up you partner and align with the product team to ensure everything is still on track and if adjustments need to be made. You ensure harmony between all teams involved in the development of our products while remaining the bedrock of support for the engineering team.

    Post-lunch you have a one-on-one with a member of your team discussing their well-being, growth, workload, and any open topics. Afterwards you dedicate time to addressing technical challenges and providing guidance and coaching to team members.

    As the day concludes, you evaluate the long-term plan's status, ensuring it remains on track. You resolve immediate issues, complete essential documentation, and contemplate strategies for advancing your team and current projects to the next level. In this multifaceted role, you blend people management, leadership, technical expertise, and team support to drive success in product development.

    What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and manage a team of software managers/tech leads, Sr. software engineers, Sr. data engineers setting clear goals and expectations.
  • Drive the successful execution of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality and timeline.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage with external and internal stakeholders to define project scope, objectives and deliverables.
  • Provide architecture, design and technical guidance support to team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, skill development performing research and development, evaluating new technologies, and ideas promoting innovation.
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices and maintains high-quality code and SDLC standards.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and strategies.
  • Manage a geographically distributed team in different timezones ensuring delivery comes through successfully.
  • Understand your team's needs and be aware of engineering process
  • Mentor, coach managers, tech leads and senior engineers, architects setting career goals, providing performance reviews and supporting career aspirations. (approx., 30% will be people management and 70% on technical leadership and delivery).

    • Preferable knowledge:

  • Track record of leading multiple products, launching and scaling them successfully leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background in Java, Spring Boot, Angular or React, Python, AWS or cloud technologies preferred.
  • Experienced in agile delivery processes such as CI/CD, automation testing, auto-deployments in cloud with technologies like Jenkins, Terraform, Spinnaker.
  • Some experience or knowledge of the business domain of marketing, specifically Search (Google) and Social (Meta), is a benefit
  • Experience in managing managers, multiple products and a 15+ person organization.
  • Past experience in managing managerial level people, helping to coach and mentor them in people management areas and supporting team's career growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience, creative problem solving, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in English, both in written and spoken forms; proficiency in Dutch is a bonus.
  • You are required to already have a place of residency in The Netherlands and be able to come into the office (Hybrid). This point is non negotiable.
