    As a senior product manager at SMART Photonics, you are the interface between our Customers and the SMART Photonics R&D- and Engineering teams. In this role it is key to understand our customers' application and market needs as well as their product roadmaps and to be able to match these with our technology platform and capabilities. You identify broader market trends and directions to drive SMART's technology roadmap.

    As the biggest drivers are the telecom and datacom markets you will mostly engage with customers in this application space. Other applications areas for customer interactions include Lidar for automotive or structural health monitoring and biomedical applications.

    You are a senior engineer, offering thorough understanding of and experience with photonic integration technologies and semiconductor technology. You also have ample system level knowledge (e.g. understanding of coherent/IMDD optical communication systems). You can pinpoint the key technology demands that need to be met and have understanding of the pure-foundry model and the PDK offering.

    Your responsibility:

  • Senior Product Management of our InP photonic integration technologies and relevant markets such as telecom, datacom, Lidar, sensing etc.
  • Get clear understanding of our customers' needs and challenges, translate this to functional specs for building blocks and PIC designs.
  • Provide product and technology feedback to customers, thereby tailoring their needs with our technology offering, while statisfying their overall requirements.
  • Provide product and technology feedback to customers to influence their roadmap planning process.
  • Create traction with new customers to strengthen our offer to and intimacy collaborate with these customers.
  • Work together with Sales and Marketing team to assess and develop new business opportunities and to define the scope and requirements for new customer projects.
  • Work with R&D to set specifications and drive future technology developments as well as work with our Engineering team to set priorities for maturing the developed technologies.
  • Provide product and technology feedback from customers for incorporation and alignment of the company technology and product roadmap.
  • Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking to ensure the right positioning of product solutions.
  • Coach and guide the product management team with your in-depth technical knowledge, secure a continuous learning attitude as well as a true Customer mindset.
  • Collaborate and drive our technology and software partners, e.g. for EPDA tools.

    • We are looking for a person who has / is:

  • Technical education, with more than 7 years of professional work experience in the photonic / semiconductor / sensors / telecom industry in a combined technical and commercial role.
  • In-depth knowledge about application needs, mainly telecom and datacom markets. Knowledge of markets such as Lidar and sensing is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with and understanding of integrated photonics technology. Understanding of pure-play foundry business model, PDK concept and EPDA tools landscape.
  • Hands-on attitude and able to translate technology into a strong business proposition but also market requirements to technology developments.
  • Able to work in cross-functional teams and to influence effectively internal and external stakeholders. Strong communicator, self-confident and able to connect with people and win their trust and respect.
  • Determined and persistent in identifying solutions that are deemed satisfying by all stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical skills and creative thinking used to make data-driven decisions.
  • Able to travel regularly.
  • Leading / managerial soft-skills and experience are preferred.
