Background information
The Sensors department of the Development & Engineering sector develops the sensors which are key for ASML. ASML lithography machines need to continuously improve, in order to produce even more powerful computer chips. These machines use DUV or EUV light to print the chip design into a photo resistant layer which is only a few 10s of nanometers thick and gets even thinner.
Your assignment
Our process requires positioning the wafer on which the chips are printed at exactly the right height. In order to do so, the Level Sensor will have to measure the height of the wafer with around 1 nm error at ever increasing speed. We are exploring all kinds of different concepts to enable this. With this assignment in the Level Sensor group, you are the interface between optical and physics sensor performance.
