    About us

    The EMEA legal team supports Dyson's activities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. We are trusted business partners, working closely with stakeholders throughout the EMEA markets to deliver legal services, enabling Dyson's continued commercial success and managing any associated legal risks. We provide high-quality business-focused legal advice, helping the business to establish and enforce its relationships with third parties; create and defend its compelling performance claims; protect the Dyson brand; and ensure that it conducts its activities in compliance with applicable laws.

    About the role

    This role is to act as a Legal Counsel for the EMEA region. You will be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team (consisting of 6 lawyers in total), dealing with interesting and multi-jurisdictional work.

    Reporting into a Senior Legal Counsel, you'll provide a broad range of legal support to the business, with a focus on the commercial relationships that Dyson enters into with third parties (such as contracts with suppliers, retailers, distributors and marketplaces).

    Your role will include:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on the terms of Dyson's contracts with third parties across a variety of EMEA jurisdictions (with support from external counsel, when appropriate); ensuring that Dyson's minimum requirements are adhered; and identifying, assessing and mitigating risks.
  • Advising on the interpretation of Dyson's legal compliance policies, and providing competition law advice to the business, in collaboration with Dyson's Legal Compliance and Ethics team.
  • Assisting business stakeholders to resolve disputes with third parties.
  • Advising on consumer law matters.
  • Reviewing marketing claims and advertising materials from a legal perspective.
  • Conducting legal risk assessments and providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Building & maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Working with the wider team to keep abreast of legal developments across the region; and supporting the business in responding to those legal developments.
  • Instructing and working with external counsel to deliver advice to the business, and managing the incurrence of legal fees to control costs and ensure that Dyson receives value for money.
  • Contributing to the team's sharing of know-how and the implementation of its strategic plans.
  • Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel to maintain Dyson's contract templates and guidance documents; and deliver training to the business.

    • About you

    This is what we're looking for:

  • At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience. You'll need to be qualified in an EU jurisdiction or England & Wales.
  • Attention to detail, the ability to draft and accurately interpret contractual terms, and experience of negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Prior experience of competition law (ideally within a retail environment) and selective distribution would be considered an additional plus.
  • Prior experience of consumer law matters would be considered an additional plus.
  • A commercial mindset that takes business considerations and practical realities into account when providing advice and making decisions.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and tailor your communication style to suit your audience.
  • Good at building working relationships and managing multiple stakeholders, and able to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • The confidence and resilience to proactively contribute to discussions, ask questions, and challenge decisions to ensure that Dyson does the right thing.
  • The ability to manage competing demands effectively and with composure.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-driven, approach to getting things done.
  • Adaptability and a positive attitude that embraces change. We don't expect you to be an expert in every aspect of the role on day 1, but you need to have an appetite to learn new skills and the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Fluency in English, and comfortable providing advice and drafting legal documents in English (other European languages will be considered an additional plus).

    New employees to Dyson in the Netherlands commence employment on a 12-month, fixed-term basis.
