Not the knot.

Not the knot.You are welcome to interact with my story that is inspired by a fellow word-smith with whom I became acquainted, shortly after I tried my hand to publish on Linked-In a few years ago. As a result from participating in the various specialized discussion groups that had formed, the number of followers climbed steadily with each publication. I enjoyed the engagements from my writing. Their interactions stretched my own boundaries.

It is my assumption that for this reason, I became part of the first 100.000 (non-paying) LI-members that were given the means to publish their own articles. Would-be-writers had to apply for the privilege. Remember the pencil? Sadly, in the world of today, free speech is only available for those who can afford it, and hence my articles have become invisible to my followers. As a consequence, my interest to write and publish on LI wained.

Perhaps it was the way how I formatted my words, that Linked-In disliked.

Words can be confusing. Each word we use, creates a perception in an other’s thought pattern. Perception is founded by sensation. The sensations we experience, originate from our senses. That makes sense. Apparently, the majority of the people on our planet are of the firm believe that humans have only five senses. Is that really so? Is there not more to explore? Aren’t you aware that something doesn’t add up? Is there not a knot in the way how we learned to reason? Is our consciousness delimited by the validity of only five sensations?

To me, that does not make any sense whatsoever. From time to time, we all have a desire to straighten the thought patterns that one has accumulated over time. Where does that desire emanate from? When does that desire surface? What triggers the need to revise our inner – often unexpressed – thought patterns?

How would one know the need to revisit the meaning to what one has seen, heard, smelled, tasted or touched? From experience, I feel that need arise from within, based on my own sensations compared to that what I hear from, or see of others. It is my intuition, that tells me that there is something about my observations around me, which arouses my attention.

When my thought patterns turn into a knot, I need to straighten my mind. For this to occur, I require the input of additional information. In order to do so, I do not go without going within first. If that does not resolve the issue, I ask another a why knot, and get into trouble. As a result, I have been outcasted by society by knot fitting the mould of mind controlled – sense less – thought.

Why is not a question that goes well for people affected by Autism. The Corpus Callosum of people with Autism is thinner. This slows down the flow of information between the left and right hemispheres. It takes longer for the sequential information from the left (logical) hemisphere, to catch up with the parralel information stream that is generated by the right (intuitive) hemisphere of the brain. Hence the why knot. Why not one could say.

Words can be confusing, particularly when the essential meaning of the words we use are not clearly understood. In terms of the Corpus Callosum, there are also meanings that are significant for this topic. Corpus delineates “the body”, whilst the word Callosum literally means “toughness”. People affected by Autism are said to have difficulties in communication.

When this happens, the bottom of my stomach becomes unsettled. This is similar to when the top of my gut trembles from anxiety when I step into a public speaking role. Thát, is my own anxiety, for not making a fool of myself, by speaking to a body of people. In contrast, an uneasiness at the bottom of my gut is nature’s anxiety. Intuition is merely nature’s way of speaking to my own body. Do you ever feel, your body knot speak? When is there a need to straighten out the knots of our self made thought patterns? Why knot the not. Or is not the knot?

More often than not, my hunches manifest themselves.

The sign in the header image of my article is made by the Australian artist Richard Tipping, after he laid down the baton as an academic in film, literature and philosophy at Flinders University, Adelaide. His traffic-sign related picture popped up in my mind during a dialogue I had a few days ago with my good friend Sebas, which I depicted by the surrounding strings, as differing streams of assumptions, convictions and opinions.

3258bb70.jpgWe were expressing similar thoughts patterns, but used different words to convey our personal meanings. There were many tangents, their depth was intense, each colorful nuance was entwined with a personal meaning, until finally our latent understandings aligned in unison.

I promised myself that I would use one of the many quotes he brings into our interactions as the concept of my articles. Our Thought OWisdom conversions are embedded in Richard’s artwork. It is this TOW Concept, taken from a non-traffic-sign, that I shall write about from time to time, as depicted here on the right, to affect change of general perceptions. The topics that I personally enjoy exploring will be diverse, and are mainly around latent leadership, logics, systems, patterns and form.

My Thought Or Wisdom format endeavors to tow away the conflicting understandings that occur between each of us. Good communication is difficult. We often get carried away by personal inferences, and end up with disagreements, mostly without checking what was actually conveyed to us.

What a speaker says, is not always heard by the listener.

From the five subjects I mentioned is form perhaps the least understood. So this week Bas said to me: “How long it takes, has nothing to do with time.” I felt he was right, but did not know why. Bas had touched the logic of my mind. The fact needed processing time.

After a few silent moments of letting his words take form in my thought pattern, we both bursted out laughing out loud simultaneously. To which I enlightened replied: Does that mean that my excuse for being late for an appointment can therefor be dismissed by the fact that I am present? As we often speak in riddles; Is; Do, thoughts and time make matter, a question or not?, I asked.

We could have it right away, but I let that topic be an exploration for another day.
