    Buffalo, New York – Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSOMBS) seeks an ambitious, distinguished physician executive as its next Chief of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. The incoming chief will have the opportunity to lead and set the course for future substantial growth of the Division and broaden its impact on the health of the communities throughout Western New York.

    The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is a leading and multidisciplinary department dedicated to the comprehensive study and management of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and nutritional disorders. With a rich history of excellence, the division has earned a reputation for its cutting-edge research, exceptional patient care, and outstanding education and training programs. The division boasts a team of distinguished experts, including renowned gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and nutrition specialists, who collaborate to provide innovative and personalized care to patients with complex conditions. As a pivotal hub for research, the division actively participates in groundbreaking studies, advancing knowledge and shaping the future of gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. Additionally, the division's commitment to education is evident through its rigorous training programs that produce top-tier physicians and specialists in the field.

    The Chief is responsible for the overall administrative, academic, and clinical operations of the Division. The Division is poised for rapid growth and seeks an innovative and visionary leader who will work closely with and report to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and the leadership of JSOMBS. As JSOMBS and its affiliated hospitals constitute a major academic medical network in the Western Region of New York, the Chief will serve as a key liaison regarding gastroenterology clinical care across multiple clinical sites.

    Candidates must be an accomplished academician and clinician with an M.D., or an equivalent degree, from an accredited medical school, current board certification in gastroenterology, eligible for licensure in New York, and appropriate academic qualifications for appointment as tenured Associate Professor or Professor. Candidates must have experience in developing and leading clinical programs, a strong program in clinical or laboratory-based research, a record of innovative and effective administrative experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment.
