Introduction

Are you a bachelor student in Physics or Optics looking for a hands-on practical internship? Do you have some basic optical knowledge? Then this internship might be interesting to you

Background information

The SPM department develops the position measurement system for the moving stages and optics. These systems make use of interferometers (IFMs) which use laser light. Before the IFM can work the laser light has to be pointed into the IFM at the right angle and position. This is done with the aid of a (so-callled) Beam Adjustment Tool (BAT). This tool is a combination of an optical mechanical part, electronics and special software.

Your assignment

The assignment is to investigate which improvements are feasible on the BAT. These improvements can either be in the optomechanical part (e.g. different Beam-spliter, shutter design or larger optics) or in the software part (e.g. Image filtering or fringe counting). As an intern, you will have the flexibility and freedom to identify improvement ideas. With the help of your mentor, select some of these improvement points, and test and analyze/report the results.

This is an apprentice/ graduation internship for 3-5 days a week with a duration of a minimum of 3 months. The start date is September 2024.
