Summary:

The position requires coordination and close working relationships with international logistics service providers, customs house brokers, customers as well as union employees within production facilities and distribution centers.

The overall objective of this position is to ensure the efficient and effective coordination of finished goods to customers and distribution centers while realizing cost savings and service improvements.

Some travel is required.**
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates import and export logistics activities via ocean, air and truck with multiple carriers from point of pick up to point of delivery
  • Proactively monitor import and export shipments from booking through delivery by tracking, maintaining records, and providing problem resolution as needed
  • Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions
  • Assesses the effectiveness of current global logistics and/or transportation processes, determines improvements, and coordinates institutionalized change
  • Provides analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals
  • Responsible for assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations which support the management of global logistics and supply chain operations
  • Ensure transport capacity for production facilities and/or distribution centers
  • Monitors contract compliance of carriers and other global logistics service providers
  • Develops standard operating procedures and performance standards
  • Coordination and communication of global logistics issues between logistics service providers, Inside Sales, and Outside Sales
  • Evaluate global logistics service providers and mill shipping performance on a continual basis to ensure adherence to performance standards
  • Create and publish reports on the performance of logistics

Minimum Education, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Studies or equivalent jobrelated experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; familiar with logistics and production planning concepts (e.g., justintime, materials requirement planning)
  • Must be a selfstarter who is able to work independently and possess the ability and desire to work effectively, with attention to detail, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Understand transportation contracts and tariffs
  • Ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change
  • Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Project management skills.
