    Role and responsibilities

    The mission of this job is to develop and introduce novel wafer metrology solutions to address challenging needs for reliable metrology especially at current and future technology nodes. These smart solutions are crucial for the demonstration of the advanced performance of ASML's latest products. You will work on projects that are critical to our customers and interface with other development teams, project management, manufacturing and marketing. Teamwork and collaboration are vital to achieve your goals.

    Your responsibilities will be, among others:

  • Contribute to designing, preparing and executing test plans for qualifying ASML products, focusing on enabling scanner and application product development.
  • Prepare and optimize wafer metrology setup (e-beam metrology/CDSEM/YieldStar) and recipes to secure the reliability and quality of data.
  • Providing out of the box metrology solutions for the challenging needs of ASML and its end users. This may require implementing advanced statistical methods to post-process SEM raw data or image processing techniques to extract the data of interest from raw SEM images.
  • Defining and driving wafer metrology performance requirements and capabilities for ASML's product roadmap.
  • Meet shared goals together with the project team, pointing out problems and bottlenecks, working out improvements and initiating their implementation.
  • Own expertise in how design choices in the ASML scanner and choices in customer application (such as wafer metrology solutions) influence ASML scanner performance
  • Inform your stakeholders and give presentations to other development teams to transfer knowledge.
  • Education and experience

    PhD/ MSc degree in Physics or other technical area, with a strong preference for physics.

  • Knowledge and experience with statistical methods and data analysis techniques with Python/Matlab/Julia is preferred.
  • Experience with metrology and/or measurement tools (SEM) is an advantage. Knowledge on semiconductor industry is a nice to have.

  • Context of the position

    The holder of this position is reporting to the manager of the Wafer Metrology group. This group is part of the D&E Cross Product Performance Department in the Performance & Integration (P&I) Cluster.

    Within ASML, the sector D&E is responsible for the specification, design, engineering, integration and qualification of the ASML products. In this sector, departments with different competences are responsible for the various modules of the ASML products. Each department consists of discipline and/or function-oriented groups where emphasis lies on particular competences or functions in ASML equipment. The P&I cluster has emphasis on ASML system level specification, qualification and integration activities.
