    Director Global Markets Commodities Sales

    Based in Amsterdam. You must be eligible to work in the Netherlands. Our client offers a 50% working from home policy.

    We are seeking an immediate start date, but our client can accommodate a one-month notice period.

    A leading retail bank is currently recruiting for a Director to work in the global markets commodities sales team.

    In this role, you will be responsible for the growth and development of commodity marketing business. You will work closely with the Amsterdam and London commodities team to define a client strategy for the growth of this company's commodities business in Europe.

    The global market team focuses on servicing clients by delivering solutions across FI and FX products (spots, swaps, FX options) covering commodities such as base metals, precious metals, regulatory and voluntary carbon certificates, oil, gas, LNG, agricultural products, and trade finance.

    The primary goal is to achieve client value and build sustainable growth in the client base and revenue.

    The commodities team in Amsterdam will be responsible for developing the commodity marketing business across Europe.

    The initial principal focus will likely be supporting existing renewables financing and trading activity, followed by the development of activity in other commodity markets with producers, industrials, and financial participants.

    You will work extensively with the coverage groups on client origination as they continue to build the commodities and markets business within Europe.

    The team will work closely with the London commodities team and act as an interface between European clients and trading and risk management teams in both London and Sydney.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Identify and engage with clients within the company's risk appetite and strategy that have commodity requirements across main markets in energy, metals, agricultural products, and renewables.
    • Liaise proactively with credit, compliance, and operations in Amsterdam, London, and Sydney to ensure onboarding and management of clients and smooth running of the business.
    • Originate and onboard European commodity clients in line with Group product capability.
    • Manage and market commodity trading activity to these clients, acting as an interface between European clients and trading/risk management in London and Sydney.
    • In coordination with the London commodities team, interact with clients' trading desks and manage execution and booking of sales transactions where required.
    • Manage commodity client pricing, deal execution, and order management in the European time zone.
    • Work closely with commodity Trading teams to identify and execute on market opportunities;

    Essential Skills:

    • A Bachelor diploma and 10+ years of cross-commodity experience with the ability to learn new products within a recognized financial institution in Australia and the startup entity in Amsterdam.
    • Sufficient experience across derivative products.
    • Broad experience and understanding across mainstream commodity markets in base and precious metals, energy, renewables, and agricultural products.
    • Strong relationships at senior and trading desk level with mainstream European counterparties with relevant commodity exposures across Industrials, MNCs, utilities, energy majors, and trade houses.
    • Excellent communication skills; preferably in German or French next to English.
    • Strong numeric/quantitative/pricing skills, great in Excel.
    • Experience of working in an established regulated financial institution with a proven commitment and ability to comply with regulations, policies, and processes.
    • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a small team within a large institution as part of a business development strategy that is a key priority for the organization.
