    Chemours is seeking an EHS Director for the Netherlands to join our growing plant in Dordrecht. This position is located at the Dordrecht site and reports directly to the Plant Manager, who is also Country Leader for the Netherlands. Chemours is taking the industry lead in responsible manufacturing with the tremendous emission reductions we achieved. But we are never ready. This position is for those who want to make a difference in the biggest challenges the industry is facing. You will work on further emission reduction programs, be challenged by the authorities on our responsible manufacturing commitments and work on improving our holistic safety culture.

    You lead the team of in total 23Fte through the required change to new successes with your excellent people leadership skills. The team is organized in:

  • An Environmental team of 5Fte including a senior manager.
  • A Health, Safety & Security team including Fire & Emergency response team of 13 Fte including a senior manager.
  • PSM Engineers (3Fte) reporting directly to this position.
  • Inspection & Certification specialists (2Fte) reporting directly to this position.
  • The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Strategic EHS Leadership:

  • The Senior EHS Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the company.
  • This position will develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all EHS decisions, which bear critical importance to overall company objectives, operations, and profitability.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior management on EHS matters and ensure a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships with regulatory bodies and community organizations.
  • Incident Response and Investigation:

  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Leverage our excellent systems to ensure we learn from incidents and improve our safety performance.
  • Environmental Management:

  • Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, emissions reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Implement strategies to reduce the environmental impact of company operations.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments across all operations, identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate preventive measures.
  • Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to minimize workplace incidents and environmental impact.
  • EHS Training and Education:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to educate employees on safety protocols, environmental policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through ongoing communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Master's degree preferred;
  • 5+ years of proven experience in EHS management within a BRZO organization;
  • Experience facing authorities like DCMR, ILT, Rijkswaterstaat, Ministry of SZW;
  • Professional certifications like ISO 9001, RC 140001;
  • You distinct yourself in people leadership by coaching and managing people on their attitude and behavior;
  • You bring people and processes in motion by providing both structure and attention to your team;
  • You hold your people responsible to solve problems themselves;
  • You tailor your style and arguments to your people to increase involvement and engagement;
  • As a stable person you easily cope with stressful situations ;
  • You reflect on your work and interactions to keep on developing yourself.
  • Pay Range (in local currency):

    €128, €200,000.00
