- Apply Global Project Methodology (GPM) and Process Automation Work Process.
- Ensure PA discipline design deliverables meet the needs of the project: process automation is safe, meets DOW LPP's and other EH&S requirements, reliable, functions as intended, following LHC PA Conventions and Standards with high productivity, on time and within budget.
- This role is also involved in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and designing or modifying the basic process control system (BPCS).
- Program control applications for various distributed control systems. Develop operator graphics. Write simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators.
- Identify technical problems and proactively seek improvement opportunities that promote greater functionality, safety and reliability in partnership with stakeholders and engaging the business technology center and SME network.
- Develop and support process automation training for applicable personnel.
- Participate in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops.
- Participate in Global Networks to identify and develop new technology for the business. Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements.
- Participate regularly on multi-functional teams to develop innovative automation solutions. Engage in projects in different geographies / locations.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% annually (both domestic and/or internationally.
- Fluency in the English language.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage many projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively sell ideas to all job levels.
- Knowledgeable with one or more process control platforms (ABB, Siemens, MOD5, Emerson, DeltaV, Foxboro, Honeywell).
- State Based Control experience.
- Dutch language skills.

About you and this role
Our TES Process Automation Light Hydrocarbons (LHC) Business team is looking for a Process Automation Engineer, supporting our LHC technologies. The location of this role will be based in Terneuzen, The Netherlands.
As a Process Automation Engineer, you will join a highly motivated skilled team working with challenging process automation solutions locally and globally in North and South America, and Europe.
You will become part of a high energy, growing team, geared towards delivering innovative and sustainable automation solutions for one of the most profitable businesses in Dow. We are currently at the forefront of transforming our assets to the manufacturing facilities of the future and need your experience and knowledge to continue to progress the team forward.

As a Process Automation Engineer at Dow, you will apply technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the chemical process equipment involved, work process, unit operations, operating condition or process technology improvements. You will also support intermediate projects, or portions of the process automation design within larger capital projects. Dow is currently investing heavily into these facilities, and we need someone who has a passion for implementing automation solutions to improve plant safety, sustainability and profitability.
