The Cycas Hospitality Headquarter is based in Amsterdam, but we have employees in 4 European countries and are expanding rapidly.

    Job brief:

    With the paid expansion of our portfolio our Accounting team is growing too. Cycas Hospitality is looking for a highly motivated (Senior) Accountant who is interested to play a key role in delivering high quality accounting services to our hotels. The role can be based anywhere in the UK, Netherlands, or Germany, ideally close to one of our hotels. This position is a great opportunity for a talented individual who has the desire to join a fast-growing company in an international environment.

    Main responsibility will be end-to-end accounting for several legal entities, especially the operational entities for some of our hotels across Europe and coordinating the compliance deliverables with the local service providers. The Senior Accountant will report to the Group Accounting Manager.

    Due to the rapid and continuous growth and transition of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time and will include further legal entities. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.

    Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the end-to-end GL accounting activities and the entire month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close process for a group of in-sourced legal entities
  • Posting of G/L and transactional journals, this includes the data transfer from other relevant systems (i.e. Opera PMS)
  • Monthly Balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis, support the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and monthly reporting package.
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Coordinate the compliance deliverables with the local service providers (i.e. CIT, Payroll etc.)
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Coordinate and review the input from the Assistant Accountants on A/R and A/P ledgers.
  • Any other task as assigned.
  • Main Requirements:

  • Proven working experience as an Accountant.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, Accounting qualification
  • Strong technical Accounting knowledge – know your Debits and Credits
  • Local GAAP knowledge is a must (Dutch/German/Denmark), IFRS knowledge is a nice to have.
  • Experience with VAT returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Well versed with MS Office applications (Excel), MS Dynamics 365 or Navision (ERP software) and Opera PMS would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-sufficient way of working
  • Strong communicator and team player
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast moving, and demanding environment.
  • Fluent in English, other languages (Dutch/German)
  • Hotel industry experience is a strong plus, however not a prerequisite.
