Job Description:

As a midwife, your role involves guiding women and their partners throughout the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period. You work independently but collaboratively in a team of professionals including gynecologists, general practitioners, pediatricians, and maternity caregivers, with a focus on the pregnant woman and her baby. • You are an enthusiastic, driven, and ambitious (BIG-registered) midwife or physician with recent experience in midwifery, eager to work with a motivated group of students.
• You have a master's degree.
• You possess broad theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
• You stay updated on current developments in midwifery and can integrate them into the educational context.
• You preferably hold a teaching qualification (BKO or BDB) or are willing to obtain one.

What We Offer:

• Initially, a temporary contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension to a permanent position.
• A salary ranging from €4,234.28 to €5,936.77 gross per month in scale 11 for a full-time position, with the exact amount depending on your workload, skills, and qualifications.
• A 32-hour workweek, with flexibility starting from 24 hours.
• A convenient workplace in Groningen with full reimbursement for public transportation costs, including an NS Business card.
• Holiday allowance of 8% in May and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December.
• A home office allowance of €3.35 per day working from home for a minimum of 4 hours, along with a fixed internet allowance of €10 per month.
• A comprehensive pension plan with ABP (Pension Fund for Government and Education).
• Generous leave entitlement allowing personalized choices, including 428 annual leave hours for a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek variant, equating to 53.5 vacation days, including mandatory days off and public holidays.

Your Working Environment:

The Academie Verloskunde Amsterdam Groningen (AVAG) is a subsidiary of Hogeschool Inholland, offering the Verloskunde (Obstetrics) hbo+ program in Amsterdam and Groningen. The curriculum is diverse and ambitious, empowering future midwives to become integral partners within the maternity care chain.

The AVAG hosts a 'Midwifery Science' research group led by a professor of Midwifery Science, collaborating with Amsterdam UMC and UMCG within both university medical centers. In conjunction with other midwifery programs in the Netherlands, a joint 'master midwifery' degree was recently established, commencing in September 2023.
