Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP)/Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis for RAP, or on a one- to two-year temporary basis for PDF, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Applicants should possess a relevant Ph.D. degree or equivalent qualifications with a distinguished research record in statistics, mathematical modelling, and data science. They should have an excellent track record in research with (i) proven ability for quality research, publications in high-quality international journals, evidence of local and regional recognition for scholarship; (ii) proven ability to conduct quality teaching and directing education programs; (iii) demonstrated participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (iv) demonstrated ability in knowledge exchange activities. Those with lower qualifications or less experience may be considered for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow.
Applicants should also have excellent command of written and spoken English and Cantonese; be familiar with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R, Stata) and MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); be organized and self-motivated; and have excellent communication skills. Experience in stakeholder management and leadership roles in the research team will be an advantage.
The appointee will conduct high-impact research related to Cariology. He/She will assist the Project-in-charge, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Professor C.H. Chu, to analyze existing secondary data and the project data to evaluate the outcomes of various interventions in establishing a multi-component service delivery model to prevent tooth decay in young children, and assess the benefits for the community. He/She will also collaborate closely with international and community experts in this area.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. For RAP, the appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
