We're an innovative, pioneering and fast-growing scale-up. If you think you can make a difference to our team, go ahead and apply.

So what's the job

As an Engineering Manager you will report to a Senior Engineering Manager of a Product Vertical.

Your role consists of three parts:

  • You are part of the Management team in one of our Verticals (Demand, Supply or Fulfillment)and of the collective of Tech Lead Managers at Catawiki. As such, you play an active role in bringing the vertical forward and shaping the strategy for vertical tech foundations in order to modernize the tech stack and enable faster delivery of product improvements.
  • You are responsible and accountable for hiring, coaching, empowering, growing, and assessing/promoting the engineers in your team.
  • You will be shaping how the team can deliver on its mission and vision.

The most important aspects are:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the engineers in code quality and maintainability, contribute to the design and architecture of the team's domain, support professional growth and development of the engineers
  • Partner with the Product and UX peers to detail out the team's roadmap and deliver product initiatives with customercentricity principles in mind
  • Together with the engineers on the team, shape the tech foundations for the team's domain to enable the delivery of new product features in a fast and highquality manner
  • Establish quality metrics to track and analyze the effectiveness of the team's software delivery processes
How we roll - Our Stack

As the biggest marketplace for special items, Catawiki operates in a market, which brings a lot of unusual challenges and opportunities.

You will be developing, testing and scaling our microservices, written in Ruby, to handle the high volume served by the platform every single day.

We do this by using Infrastructure as Code principles, collaborative peer-reviews, delivering code to production multiple times a day, A/B testing various assumptions, sometimes making mistakes, learning from them, and iterating quickly.
