ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Saba Reach Foundation
Saba is a small island known as a 'special municipality' - Openbaar Lichaam Saba (OLS) - where all municipal tasks are performed. The population of Saba, around 2,000 residents, includes a significant number of expatriates, especially from the Netherlands. Saba Reach Foundation (SRF) initiated a process in 2023/24 to enhance and professionalize its operations. The foundation focuses on creating sustainable employment opportunities and promoting participation for individuals, particularly youths, who are currently disconnected from the workforce through various programs. Recent expansions include new initiatives like Saba Works, adult education, and the replay project.
Sustaining these programs requires governmental funding due to the scale of the target group (expected to reach 65 individuals) and operational needs. SRF receives an annual subsidy of about €1.5 million through OLS, with a crucial emphasis on securing structured multi-year financing to advance existing projects. In 2022, initial administrative agreements were established to enhance the island's economic stability through the Saba Package.
