    About the role

    As an Expert Trainee in Contemporary Art, you will be closely involved with evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our artists in those sections. You will be responsible for screening efficiently and creating attractive auctions every week, supporting your team of Experts in operational processes. Catawiki strives to keep user transactions as transparent and fair as possible, and you'll learn from the expertise and experience of our experts and you will play an important role in maintaining this standard; you'll know better than anyone what items are of interest to our users.

    You will review lot titles, descriptions, lot pictures, authenticity and provide users with an estimated value based on this information. If you need to reject a submission, you do so in a professional and courteous manner. Your efforts result in exceptional auctions that bidders will find irresistible.

    Finally, you'll also be working together with our sales team and proactively assist the team of experts in commercial operations like looking for new leads, entering new leads into the system, onboarding potential artists in core markets- including but not limited to France in which you will play a major role-.
    The team is dynamic and therefore, you'll need to adapt fast, move fast on decision making with rational data-based facts. You'll communicate efficiently and be a team player within your team and other stakeholders.

    What you'll do

    • Screening and approving artworks into our auctions
    • Creating attractive auctions weekly
    • Source supply from potential artists in your focus countries
    • Support on operational processes to the team of experts
    • Be a team player, positive to drive open conversation with the rest of the team

    What you'll bring

    • +1-2 years of experience as an expert
    • Good knowledge in Artists management
    • Experience in other e-commerces will be valued positively
    • Native French speaker with excellent English communication
    • Basic expertise in Contemporary Art
    • Proven commercial mindset
    • You are a natural team player and thrive in a diverse team environment
    • Great computer skills necessary
    • You are proactive and responsible
    • An affinity for numbers and data is a plus

    Our offices and way of working

    We have sensational offices in Amsterdam, Groningen, Paris and our newest office in Lisbon. Most of our employees are within commutable distance of one of our office locations and enjoy a hybrid work model. This means we expect you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with each other. The exception is of course, if the job description specifically states that the role is 100% remote, as some experts and sales positions are.
