    The AWS IDE Team are looking for a Software Development Manager who is passionate about managing teams and building services. You will be part of a team building an AWS service to enhance the developer experience in Cloud. The team works in close collaboration with other AWS services such as AWS Cloud9, AWS Fargate, and AWS ECS.     Utility Computing (UC)

    AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) roles engage with AWS customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

    • Being a proponent of the DevOps movement and enabling customers to create highly automated systems that solve their business needs
    • Working with engineering teams to translate customer needs into workable technology solutions that scale operationally
    • Building and delivering products and services in the Developer Tools space
    • Hiring, mentoring, and growing a high performing engineering team
    • Working closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
    • Operating critical systems and services
    • Participating in an on-call rotation every 1-2 months

    About the team

    The Amazon Web Services (AWS) IDE team provides developers with different tools and services that make it easy to develop modern cloud applications. We provide the IDE Toolkits for Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Code. With AWS Cloud9, we also provide our customers with a Web-based IDE. Our goal is to enable professional developers to create applications targeting the Cloud, e.g. Server-less or containers. We help them author, debug, test, and ultimately deploy code on AWS.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
    • Experience in engineering team management
    • Experience in engineering
    • Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
    • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
    • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
