As an IT and VSAT Engineer for Ships, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of onboard IT systems and VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) communication equipment.

You will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of these systems to keep vessels connected and operational while at sea.

This is a dynamic role that requires both technical expertise and adaptability to work in various European ports and onboard ships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain VSAT communication systems on board ships.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IT networks, satellite communication, and VSAT systems.
• Provide remote and onsite support to vessels in various European ports.
• Collaborate with ship crews and clients to ensure proper setup and functionality of IT equipment.
• Conduct regular system checks, software updates, and equipment maintenance.
• Document system configurations, maintenance activities, and technical reports.
• Assist in the implementation of cybersecurity measures for onboard IT systems.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Telecommunications, or a related field. (or relevant education and/or experience is fine)
• Proven experience in configuring and troubleshooting VSAT systems for maritime or remote locations.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and IT infrastructure.
• Proficiency in satellite communication systems and equipment.
• Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to various European ports and work onboard ships when required.
• Certifications in relevant IT and satellite communication fields are a plus.
