- Key responsibilities
- Control the financial obligations of VAI including administering all payment processes and the payroll system.
- Is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the VAI Finance Manual across all VAI programmes;
- Maintains proper financial records and accurate book of accounts for all VAI programming, including inputting monthly expenses, collecting receipts and documentation and formulating reports indicating monthly balances;
- Provides timely and regular reporting on the financial position of VAI for all programming including income statements, statements of financial position, cash flow statement, bank reconciliation statement, budget reports;
- Oversee and co-ordinate purchasing procedures including purchase requisition and procurement for all VAI programmes;
- Ensure proper controls are in place to safeguard the assets of VAI including maintaining the fixed assets register;
- Organises and manages financial records and backup documentation for internal and external audits and provides support to external auditors for all programming;
- Oversees all donor relations with regards to budgeting, reporting, procurement and any other requirements necessary for ensuring effective implementation of projects.
- Ensure all the legal requirements for operating as a Dutch Stitching are accomplished in a timely fashion.
- Consolidate the annual and project budgets submitted by the different departments/staff for the consideration and approval of the Executive Director;
- Provide budget planning support for the development of funding applications;
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, monitor that programme activities are in line with approved budgets, and report any anticipated deviations to the Executive Director for consideration and approval;
- Maintain and update records of all the staff.
- Prepares contracts and other human resources tasks as required for all programming;
- Ensures the implementation of the VAI Human Resources Manual across programming;
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, updates and amends VAI Human Resources Manual;
- Facilitates employee review procedures.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance and/or accounting;
- Minimum 5 years' experience in finance manage for a business or NGO;
- Minimum 2 years' experience maintaining accounts, grants and financial reporting for an international NGO;
- Ability to manage changing or conflicting priorities and operate effectively within a demanding work environment;
- Ability to support senior leadership to ensure high level of financial integrity across the organisation;
- A strong commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to work with limited supervision;
- A vision for organisational development and ability to set and meet objectives;
- Experience managing cloud software, advanced Excel and Quickbooks skills;
- Ability to implement and, where necessary, develop and amend organisation policies;
- A sharp eye for detail and excellent personal organisational skills;
- Experience managing the finance and reporting requirements of a Dutch Stitching;
- High level of English language skills, Dutch is an advantage.

This role is an exciting next step for an experienced Finance Manager looking to step up and demonstrate their leadership capability. VAI is a new and expanding organisation so we are looking for energetic and enthusiastic team members wanting to help build our vision. The Finance Manager will be an integral member of the VAI team as the key support person for the organisation across our international programming. We are looking for someone with a passion for financial integrity.
The position is full-time and home-based. Applicants based in the Netherlands are encouraged to apply.
Salary will be according to the VAI salary scale, position is graded as a Manager Level 2.
