TenneT is growing fast to realize its strategic ambitions. We play a leading role in driving the energy transition. We are looking for a passionate Sub Project Lead Multi-terminal DC Integration (LionLink) at our location in Arnhem who will contribute to this and that might be you?


Your contribution to TenneT:


  • Based on the Energieakkoord, where the targets and intentions for the transition to a more renewable energy supply are set, the Roadmap Offshore wind energy 2030 and the ambition to realise additional wind capacity prior to 2030 a rollout strategy is being prepared for the long term, including the 2GW projects. This results in a commitment for TenneT to realise at least 14 2GW HVDC Grid Connection Systems which bring the power from offshore windfarms in the North sea to the Dutch electricity grid to be commissioned between


In addition, TenneT and its UK project partner National Grid Ventures (NGV), are developing a Multi-Purpose Interconnector (MPI), called LionLink.

This project is meant to deliver a new electricity link between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom via a Dutch 2 GW offshore wind farm.

The development is the first of its kind for the UK and the Netherlands, and the first step towards an integrated North Sea grid.

Within the portfolio team Stations Petrofac/Hitachi, consisting of at least 6 platform/HVDC projects, we are looking for a Sub Project Lead Multi-terminal DC integration who will drive the technical integration of the relevant point-point HVDC system of TenneT into the LionLink setup.


You will be part of the HVDC team which manages the technical activities of the HVDC contractor for TenneT's 2GW program.

Main area of responsibility will be around the MPI readiness activities of Hitachi Energy, as reflected in TenneT's technical specifications, for the Nederwiek 3 (NW3) project.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate (overarching) MPI readiness activities of NW3 project together with Hitachi Energy, with direct support from other subproject leads of HVDC team;
- (Co)review technical deliverables of Contractor which are related to the multi-terminal DC system behaviour and operational principles (e.g. control and protection strategy, steady state and transient analysis, HV HMI/SCADA arrangements, network infrastructure, etc.);

  • Witness factory acceptance tests of the Contractor for functional and dynamic performance for the multiterminal test cases;
  • Act as primary point of contact on behalf of HVDC portfolio team towards TenneT internal stakeholders (asset management, energy system planning, system operations) for the complementary technical development aspects of LionLink;
  • Organise and work on the development of technical specifications for LionLink project and alignment with other workstreams (procurement, commercial) for contract preparations of LionLink project;
  • Act as primary point of contact on behalf of HVDC workstream towards NGV;
  • Develop grid compliance trajectory for LionLink together with all relevant stakeholders.

Your profile and background:


  • BSc in electrical engineering, preferably MSc in electrical power engineering;
  • Relevant professional work experience between 5 years, ideally with HVDC systems;
  • Experience with network calculation tools, ideally PSCAD and real time simulation environments;
  • Ability to articulate and solve complex technical problems;
  • Eagerness to learn and adaptable to navigate within large organizations;
  • Structured approach to work, strong quality awareness;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
  • Flexibility to participate in business trips for the purposes of NW3 and LionLink projects (e.g. UK, Sweden).

  • Job grade 8 (Euro Euro 7660 gross a month on a full time basis) according TenneT TSO CAO;
