    Freight Trader, Gas Chartering

    Purpose of Position:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day Gas Chartering activities for Braskems teams in Europe, Asia, Brazil and the US. Braskems constantly evolving commercial operations provide a fantastically challenging role and dynamic workload coupled with a flexible, progressive working environment. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and resourceful individual to complement our team in Rotterdam.

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Negotiate maritime contracts such as Time Charters, COAs and Spot to meet logistics, industrial, commercial and feedstock demands, ensuring that the ships follow international regulations and compliance.
  • Develop and implement maritime contracting strategies for the short, medium, and long term.
  • Optimize the Braskem Trading & Shipping Gas Fleet by running voyage calculations and vessel employment analysis and evaluating opportunities to relet the vessels.
  • Keep the company informed of market trends in a) long-medium term, with the purpose of supporting contractual negotiations and future projects in the maritime area as well as informing leaderships and traders; b) short-term, with the objective of personalizing dynamic information that meets the needs of the interface areas, leaderships, traders and the area of shipping itself.
  • Prepare presentations, economic analyses and market reports for management.
  • Ensure and maintain positive relationships with the Ship Owners, Brokers traders and the internal stakeholders, as well as the internal interfaces.
  • Being an active member of the Chartering team promoting global mindset, creativity, innovation, and new ways of doing business.
  • Lead new projects related to Gas Chartering as well as identify and develop potential partners to invest on those projects.
  • Constantly measure suppliers service levels and implement actions to guarantee good service.
  • Through KIPs, manage, plan and implement actions to capture greater market value.
  • Represent Braskem in external meetings, summits and conferences.
  • Develop an understanding of the shipping strategy and freight competitiveness in Braskem commercial, supply, planning and senior levels.
  • Ensure that Braskem foresee trading and shipping as direct & correlated markets.
  • Be a protagonist for sustainability and evolution of Braskems shipping operations as we push towards a zero emissions, zero impact future.
  • Follow strictly internal procedures and company's policies. Adhere to Braskem's Code of Conduct.
  • Technical/Management Knowledge:

  • Degree in Maritime Business and/or Maritime Law or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one to three years experience in Gas Chartering with a shipowner, broker or Peer.
  • Possess good knowledge of voyage estimate calculations and main Charter Party terms.
  • Strong negotiation and strategic thinking.
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Independent and decisive as well as being a strong team player.
  • Organized, communicative and structured.
  • International mindset and flexible working mentality.
  • Strong shipping network.
  • Prepared to travel for business
