About this job:
We are looking for a space weather specialist to join our team at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). As a space weather specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the front office during severe space weather events and verification and validation tasks for aviation. You will also contribute to education and outreach activities for space weather and scientific research related to space weather effects in the ionosphere and thermosphere.The position involves software development in consultation with our architects and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a PhD in physics or a related field, fluency in English and Dutch (or demonstrable Dutch language skills), necessary computer skills (Python), preferably including experience in research software development and use of data science tools/cloud technologies.,
