General Info Cure every child with cancer, with optimal quality of life. That is the mission of the Princess Máxima Center. The Princess Máxima Center is located in Utrecht as a national center for all children and adolescents with cancer.

Every year, about 600 children in the Netherlands get cancer and about 150 children have a recurrence after previous treatment.

The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology is a unique interdisciplinary institute that brings together all the highly complex care, research, and education to provide the best possible care for children with cancer.

This concentration and integration of specialized pediatric oncology reflects our mission:
to provide a cure and optimal quality of life for every child with cancer.

Close cooperation between care and research will lead to more children being cured of cancer, with fewer adverse effects later in life.

We go further than others have ever gone, and we do so with heart and soul.

Information about the Cell and Gene therapy facility**The Princess Máxima Centre has initiated the design and building of a new Cell and Gene Therapy Facility (CGTF). In this facility, manufacturing Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) will be our primary goal to help improve the lives of children with cancer. Next to that, we will participate in translational research to strengthen our possibilities of providing treatments to all children, especially those living with high risk and hard to treat cancers.

Internship

In order to manufacture ATMPs, the highest standard of quality control is required to reduce the risk of any product contamination from the environment it is being produced.

Therefore, it is critical to have the necessary controls in place to reduce these risks.

This exciting internship revolves around assay development and monitoring of facilities within the quality control (QC) department of the CGTF.

The project is related to the different aspects of assessing contamination and the working environment.

You will have the opportunity to learn about the growing field of ATMPs and the importance of good manufacturing practices (GMP) in this brand-new facility.

Furthermore, you will gain essential skills including GMP training, critical thinking, accuracy, working independently and within a team. Would you like to contribute to the critical validation processes for the manufacture of important therapies for children with cancer?
