We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality Coordinator (HSSEQ Coordinator) .

    The role

    An HSSEQ Coordinator plays a pivotal role in creating a safe, environmentally friendly and quality-focused working environment. Furthermore, the HSSEQ Coordinator is amultifaceted role and requires a combination of leadershipskills, excellent communication skills, technical knowledge, strong understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to drive organizational change. In addition, HSSEQ Coordinator must ensure that organization operates in compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards and best practices.

    Key accountabilities

    The responsibilities of HSSEQ Coordinator are diverse and includes;

  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and update HSSEQ policies and procedures in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Ensure that HSSEQ policies align with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Compliance Assurance: Stay current with local, national, and international regulations related to health, safety, environment, and quality. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, standards, and certifications.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and assess the associated risks. Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Training and Education: Provide HSSEQ training to employees, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders. Develop and deliver educational programs to increase awareness and promote a safety culture within the organization.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes. Develop corrective and preventive action plans to address identified issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, ensuring employees are adequately trained. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain a quality management system (QMS) to ensure products or services meet established standards. Maintain accurate records related to HSSEQ activities, including incident reports, audits, and training records. Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster communication between different departments to ensure a cohesive approach to HSSEQ. Collaborate with management, employees, and external stakeholders to promote a positive safety and quality culture.
  • Skills & experience

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Health and Environment.
  • 5 or more years of relevant working experience in ship repair.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO-norms, e.g. 9001/14001/45001.
  • ISPS certified.
  • Knowledge and experience of welding processes, experience as responsible welding coordinator is an advantage.
  • Communication skills in English, Dutch, Spanish, Papiamentu is an advantage.
  • Analytical, collaboration and persuasion skills.
  • An affinity with digital tools.
