Chapter Lead Engineering Support
In fast changing markets, customers worldwide rely on Thales.

Thales is a business where brilliant people from all over the world come together to share ideas and inspire each other.

In aerospace, transportation, defense, security and space, our architects design innovative solutions that make our tomorrow's possible, today.

TOGETHER WE MAKE THE BIG AMBITIONS OF TOMORROW HAPPEN TODAY

In this position you will join the Thales Netherlands IS/IT team.

IS/IT is at the core of the Thales digital transformation and there is a close relationship between IS/IT and business.

With a team of 150 colleagues we provide IS/IT support to our 3000 NL colleagues in several Business Lines and functions.

Our Agile transformation journey has started a couple of years ago. As a learning organization we fully embrace agile principles and strive for excellence by continuous improvement. We do not fear to fail as long as we can learn from it.

Within our chapter Engineering Support, we offer support and services to our 1000 NL Engineering within Thales Netherlands and cross the borders using our Collaboration Environments.

As the Chapter Lead, you are in charge of the RUN operations as well as the HR management of the 30 enthusiastic colleagues spread over 4 squads each responsible for one or more Engineering disciplines.

Each squad has a product owner, a scrum master, a business analyst and/or architect and a number of DevOps Engineers.

As the Chapter Lead, you take care of the people, day-to-day run operations and the associated run budget, including all of our Engineering licenses and funds for temporary staffing.

You enjoy working with people, and invest time and effort in development of talent with our annual HR cycle of performance objectives, strategic workforce planning, talent reviews and appraisals.

Together with the Product Manager Engineering & Infrastructure you form a strong team, in which you are responsible for anticipating on the incoming demands from business and matching people and skills accordingly.

Furthermore, you are part of the IS/IT Leadership Team, and participate and/or lead departmental improvement initiatives.

You bring along a critical eye, and you are not afraid of challenging the status quo in both your teams as well as in the IS/IT department.

Your typical days starts with a cup of coffee and preparing your day. Your first meetings are the stand-up meetings of your squads.

Here you find out what's on the team's agendas for that day and you determine whether they may need your help or support on specific matters.

After the stand-ups, you will have some one-to-one meetings with your people to understand how the people are doing, and their progress on objectives as well as any blocking issues.

After a good lunch, with a lunch walk, you discuss changes to contracts and your workforce with the IT controller.

In this way you keep your forecast up-to-date and can give a first estimate of the plans for next year.

Your final meeting of the day is with the IS/IT Leadership Team to discuss HR related topics. You finish your day with some administration and a nice informal chat with colleagues before you head home.
