Your Role
The upstream process department is responsible for vector generation through to full-scale mammalian cell culture. We are looking for a scientist to support media and bioreactor process development and scale up. You will report to the principal scientist upstream process development.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design and define an approach for complex research questions related to media and bioreactor optimization or characterization.
  • This position will offer you the opportunity the develop yourself from execution of practical work together with the analysts and researchers and writing experimental plans and reports, towards leading the experimental work and critical review of experimental plans, reports, and raw data.
  • You will represent the department, as a backup of the principal scientist, in interdisciplinary (project) meetings and closely collaborating with other departments.
  • You will remain uptodate with developments in relevant technologies and scientific literature, and translating these into process improvements.
  • Assuring in close collaboration with the principal scientist the scientific basis of the subdepartment and attaining the subdepartmental goals.

Your profile and skills/capabilities_**- Depending on degree, at least 4 years of relevant experience in a biotechnology or biopharmaceutical industry environment.


  • Expertise in process development of mammalian cell culture, preferably with different cell lines.
  • A sound understanding of mammalian cell metabolism.
  • Experience in documentation of research data, where knowledge about statistical tools is a plus.
  • Experience in Research and Development is a requirement, experience in GMP is an advantage.
  • A teammindset with adequate verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • An openmind, flexible and pragmatic approach.
