    Scientist

    (Utrecht, full-time, #hybrid)

    Would you like to create and deliver world class science that impacts on the role of nutrition in metabolism and health? Are you passionate about understanding the origins of health and disease and the power of nutrition to influence this health at all stages of life? Do you have knowledge and experience using in vitro, in-vivo and ex-vivo models and clinical data to support us in this?

    Your Mission: To execute, manage, drive high standard and complex in-vivo, ex-vivo and in-vitro studies (and possibly small-scale clinical studies), from start to finish, as an active member of a multidisciplinary, international team in order to understand the underlying metabolic and physiological mechanisms that determine health outcomes, and contribute to the translation of this knowledge into new nutritional solutions.

    The role of Scientist is positioned in the Nutritional Physiology and Functional Nutrients team and will report to the Senior Team Leader Nutrition Metabolism and Functional Nutrients. As a Scientist you will work on multiple research projects from start to finish, with desk work as well as laboratory work required. The role is part of a cross functional team, with many internal and external connections. You will support, lead and execute high quality studies, develop internal reports and scientific publications for the public domain and contribute to the translation of new science into innovations.

    Other key responsibilities:

  • Focus on nutrient and physiological requirements during different life stages to build nutritional concepts that support metabolic and cardiovascular function at all ages.
  • Conceptualize, design, manage and perform preclinical experiments, as part of optimizing and valorizing external and internal collaborations
  • Manage small-scale in-house clinical studies related to metabolic health
  • Manage, report, communicate, present and leverage scientific data to and from both internal stakeholders and external parties
  • Provide scientific expertise and support to colleagues
  • Effectively set up collaborative projects with internal and external partners, . academic groups and CROs

    • About You

    We are looking for a Scientist with:

  • University degree and Master's degree in Life Sciences, Nutrition, Physiology or Biomedical Sciences or related discipline
  • Experience running independent in-vivo (preclinical and clinical), ex-vivo and in-vitro research related to nutrition and metabolism
  • Affinity with translating and communicating science into clear messaging for different stakeholders and audiences
  • Flexible and able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment with competing and rapidly changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Experience with designing and testing nutritional interventions in in vitro models of adult metabolic and cardio-metabolic diseases would be valuable.
