    Manager System Control Engineering

    What will you do as a Manager System Control Engineering

    As a manager of our System Control Engineering department, you will lead one of the two engineering teams within Engineering in Europe. Together with the manager of Mechanical Engineering you will play a key role in delivering high-tech solutions to our customers and drive continuing strong growth. You will effectively develop and deploy your team of mainly software and electronics engineers in mechatronic projects aimed at New Product Introductions. Next to this you will support our manufacturing operations in consistently realizing highly complex mechatronic products, aimed at maximizing yield and efficiency. If required, you and your team will contribute to effective and fast troubleshooting and problem solving.

    You will focus on increasing our knowledge base relating to understanding technologies, products and roadmaps of our key customers. Based on understanding of the technologies and core competencies you will translate customer needs into requirements and technology solutions. In addition, you are expected to define and develop state-of-the-art technology platforms in your domain, for example in the field of motion control.

    Further activities and responsibilities within this job are:

  • Managing and continuously improving the performance of the System Control Engineering department, in line with Technology Roadmap.
  • Building and maintaining a broad network of key industry and academic contacts.
  • Identifying emerging technologies that need to be considered for use in engineering and manufacturing.
  • Pro-actively propose and initiate options for value engineering for existing products.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple sites (Netherlands, USA, Asia) in meeting customer requirements in complex technical projects.
  • Propose, lead and/or participate in internal innovation projects to enhance our core technology competencies.
  • What does a manager of System Control Engineering need to have

    You have a proven track record in leading engineering teams in the electronics and/or software domain, preferably related to mechatronic solutions. You will need to be able to inspire and motivate your team and manage priorities in the setting of a fast growing organization. You need to have an interest in deployment of both proven as well as emerging technologies. Finally, you are expected to have excellent communication skills in English (required) and Dutch (preferably).

    Furthermore you need:

  • A Master or PhD degree in software, electronics, physics, mechatronics or comparable fields.
  • A proven track record in engineering in the high tech B2B industry with experience in or knowledge of software and electronics.
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading and inspiring teams.
  • Knowledge of and experience with project definitions and NPI (New Product Introduction) processes.
  • The ability to prepare a business case and understanding of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Experience in the semiconductor, analytical or medical equipment industry is preferred as these are key customer market segments for Frencken.
