    Role

    Within Carbyon we're a fan of working smart and efficient. Given this starting point, we are building a model that represents our actual system and its behavior. Thanks to this model, which can be considered a digital twin, we're able to simulate certain designs and configurations which results in being able to make design choices (besides having some prototypes). Obviously, while prototypes are being built, we're able to iterate our model and thus being able to bring it closer to the real world.

    And that's where you come in Currently, our model is filled with quite some assumptions. As our new Modeling Engineer you will design and analyze fluid flow, heat transfer and chemistry systems based on implementation of experimental findings and models. Given the main purpose of your role, emphasis will lay on optimizing the models with experimental data and building a unified energy model. Secondarily to this, you'll focus on (partly) proto system design and analysis to essentially get our model to a higher level of maturity.

    Referring to your role as described above, we've captured your focus into a set of responsibilities. Simply to give you a more clear understanding of what is expected of you;

    Develop physical models (50%)

  • Develop the physical models itself (e.g. component, functional models & process)
  • Integrate models into existing framework
  • Validate models
  • Model optimization

    • Experimental analysis (25%)

  • Define lab tests
  • Analyze experimental results
  • Implement findings
  • Validate models based upon your findings

    • Design thermal and flow systems (25%)

  • Design (parts) of proto systems
  • Make first order calculations
  • Validate calculations using models and experiments

    • Job requirements

    Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Brings either a Master's or Ph.D. in a technical field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or Chemical Engineering)
  • Has 5 years of experience with energy technology, heat and mass transfer and fluid dynamics
  • Has 3 years of experience with experimental heat and flow setups
  • Is experienced in modeling; preferably chemical modeling
  • Is experienced with and comfortable using Python
  • Is fluent in English, both speaking and writing, as we work in an international environment.
  • Has experience with model optimization
  • Is highly motivated, knowledgeable, and brings a strong team playing attitude
  • Is energized by our purpose and is ready to take the leap into our startup
  • Is living within commuting distance from Eindhoven or willing to move there, because that's where our magic happens
