    Job Opening:
    • Looking for a kindergarten teacher at Vrijeschool Rotterdam-West
    • We are in need of a replacement for 3 days (0.6 fte) during maternity leave.
    • This is a maternity cover from August 1, 2024, to January 1, 2025. There may be a possibility of a smaller appointment until the end of the school year.
    Responsibilities:
    • As a kindergarten teacher in a free school, you will be assigned to a class of two years (groups 1 and 2). This way, you get to know the students well and can truly guide them in their development.
    • You provide the young child with what they need: time and space to learn through play, movement, imitation, and imagination.
    • You provide structure, rhythm, safety, and warmth, creating opportunities for development in line with the kindergarten phase.

    Vrije School Rotterdam West was founded in 2015, and we are rapidly growing with 385 students. Our team is comprised of open-minded and eager individuals working together to shape and deepen contemporary and artistic free school education that aligns with authentic free school pedagogy and present-day Rotterdam. Vrijeschool Rotterdam-West is one of the eight schools under the Samenwerkende Vrijescholen Zuid-Holland (SVZH) foundation.
    Our school, established 7 years ago by teachers and parents, aims to be a modern school for everyone in the neighborhood by constantly exploring the essence and purpose of free school education. We adapt, change, and innovate in form and implementation, tailored to our diverse urban context in Rotterdam. We strive to minimize barriers to make education accessible to caregivers with different lifestyles, beliefs, or those new to free school education.
    Our focus on essence and context alignment involves interpreting the Free School Curriculum into a clear plan for subjects, thematic teaching, artistic expression, and accommodating part-time colleagues with lives beyond work. We recognize the teacher shortage and educational trends, translating the curriculum to ensure quality education for all students. Collaboration, experimentation, evaluation are key in our ongoing transformation journey.
