What you will do as Expert Chemistry & Regulatory affairs:

As an expert in chemistry, you are involved in projects concerning the safe use of hazardous substances for the chemical industry, multinationals, industry associations and various authorities, both nationally and internationally.

From a leading position in the field of REACH and CLP, you participate in current assignments and work on the services of tomorrow.

You advise companies and governments carefully and honestly on how they can deal responsibly and safely with the risks of hazardous substances and products for people and the environment.

This way you have an impact on our environment, health of workers and consumers and the development of sustainable (chemical) products.

You work closely with experts and consultants in our team, such as toxicologists, eco-toxicologists and industrial hygienists. In addition, you work with other colleagues within the department who deliver other services on safety and sustainability. Through integral projects we work on the energy transition and material transition.

You are in close contact with the client, and you respond to developments in the market by developing new expertise and propositions.

You translate the results of your work into implications for the business of our clients.

Our Environment & Safety advisory group comprises approximately 120 professionals specializing in safety, health, environment, and permits. What you bring:

You are a solid, trusted advisor. You are interested in environmental issues related to your specialism. You have experience in carrying out consultancy projects.

It goes without saying that you can prioritise your work and that you take care of and monitor the progress of your projects.

You are analytically strong, have a problem-solving mindset, coupled with excellent communication skills, can listen well, and keep asking questions.

You have a flexible working attitude. You can work independently, but also together in multidisciplinary project teams.


Your profile:

  • A completed university education in chemistry or biochemistry with proven analytical chemical knowledge and experience, possibly followed by a scientific promotion.
  • Relevant work experience (510 years) with registration under the REACH legislation. Understanding environmental fate and or experience with other regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Specialist knowledge in the field of substance identification (g. the ECHA guidance on substance identity) and experience in commissioning and conducting studies in accordance with OECD guidelines for physicochemical studies is a plus.
  • Experience with hazard and risk assessment of substances under CLP and REACH, such as preparing registration dossiers.
  • Experience and / or being familiar with (Q) SAR model profiling for REACH PhysChem endpoints.
  • The ambition to further develop in the regulatory field and to deepen your knowledge of innovative topics such as polymers, circularity and waste, SSbD, and New Assessment Methodologies (NAM),
  • You have good communication skills, both in writing and speech. You have experience with reporting in Dutch and English language.
