What you'll Do

Carry out all (project-based) activities that arise in the field of managing the network and the services delivered over them, network-specific matters and/or projects;

• Co-ordinate the work distribution in the Edge Network group
• Provide input on requirements for new projects, and manage the implementation of those
• Take responsibility for availability of the Edge Network systems in the GO group

The Network Operations department delivers and maintains the satellite communication network and the satellite services provided over this network. Delivery is at an agreed high level of quality for the lowest possible price. Maintenance of the services includes Service Surveillance, Corrective and Preventive Maintenance and Quality Management. The network comprises of Satellite Access equipment, Terrestrial infrastructure and Satellite modem Platforms and Mail & messaging.

The day-to-day

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

• Day-to-day preventive and corrective activities on Edge/ISOL PoP Amsterdam/ New York, IP Core network, including the implementation of configuration changes
• Pro-active analysis of network performance.
• Responsibility for availability of the Edge/ISOL PoP Amsterdam/New York/Sydney, IP core network
• Second line support to the 24/7 function executed by the Burum NCC
• Deliver and maintain detailed knowledge of systems under responsibility
• Draw up technical specifications of (sub) systems
• Coaching of team-members
• Identify training needs for team-members and initiate training plans
• Carry out or participate in projects
• Draft and/or update testing and acceptance procedures and apply those at project hand-off
• Ensure efficient utilization of network capacity and maximum network performance
• Manage corrective actions at a network and element management level during complex incidents and structural problems
• Report on the progress of projects
• Report on network performance

What you'll Need

• 'HBO+'/'University of Applied Science+' level of education in Electronic, Telecommunication or Computer Technology or equivalent level build upon experience
• Considerable knowledge of (satellite) Telecommunication technology
• Thorough knowledge of IP-networks and technology
• Knowledge of and skills in the use of standardized testing and development methods and techniques
• Experience with working in an international Telecommunications network environment, including using commonly used processes and procedures
• Experience in managing activities in complex implementation projects
• Ability to lead a team of specialists
• Knowledge of and skilled in project management methods and techniques
• Considerable experience in working with relevant network operations procedures
• CCNP
• Active mastery of the English language
• Analytical skills necessary to specify technical solutions to the detail
• Interpersonal skills for knowledge transfer to and coaching of team members

Special conditions:

• This position takes part in a call-out roster
• The employee shall be able to report to the site within 30 minutes when on call-out duty
