Jesca Mwende

I am a data scientist with over 5 years of experience using data to solve real-life problems in sectors like healthcare, retail, energy, finance, and mobility. I enjoy working on end-to-end projects from understanding the problem and gathering data, to building models and sharing results with both technical and non-technical teams. I'm currently finishing an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Data Science, where I focus on applied projects that connect data, people, and impact. I am always curious, open to learning, and motivated by work that makes a difference.

Dutch: intermediate level (actively learning)

I have worked on a variety of data science projects across industries like healthcare, retail, finance, and energy. My experience includes building machine learning models, optimizing processes, analyzing supply chain data, and creating dashboards to support better decisions. I have experience in Python, SQL, Celonis, and Power BI, and worked with machine learning methods including XGBoost, SHAP, and computer vision (YOLO). I am used to working with both technical teams and business stakeholders, and I enjoy turning complex data into clear, useful solutions.

I am currently completing an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Data Science at Eindhoven University of Technology, where I focus on applied data science in real-world settings. I also hold a Master’s degree in Data Science with a focus on actuarial science from the University of Rwanda, Rwanda, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Accountancy Arusha, Tanzania.
