Jasper Geerdink

Hi,

My name is Jasper, I’m a twenty two year old student from Zaandam. Throughout my years I’ve played many sports the one that I still play is volleyball. I started my middle school with VWO and completed it until the fourth year, then I had the chance to play on the second highest level of The Netherlands with volleyball so I choose to take a step back with school and went to the exam year of HAVO. In these time with volleyball I learned to work with a team on a high level and therefore deal with the pressure that comes along with playing on that level. Meanwhile I managed to relatively easy finish my middle school, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do a Bachelor or Master study so I decided to try to make the VWO Mathematics A exam in the summer. I passed this exam, but ended up doing the Bachelor International Business because I wasn’t really sure which direction I wanted to go with my studies. During this studies I found out that I was interested/attracted to the financial markets. When the Covid epidemic started and everything that happened on the financial markets related to stocks and bond yields, this interest in financial markets started to grow even more and since then I follow the markets pretty close. 

During my life I had quite a lot of jobs, I listed two jobs above that are most related to “actual” jobs. My most recent job was as a Bartender in Bret, which is a bar/club. In the weekends events are held here and this is where I started to get used to working long shifts, sometimes up to 16 hours. Next to this I really liked working here because I never worked in hospitality before and learned a lot here. But I stopped working here because I’m now following an exchange in Berlin to finish my third year of my study. 

NorNorm , June 2021 - December 2021.

At NorNorm I worked as a sales assistant, the company was just starting up in The Netherlands and my tasks were mostly related to following up or finding cold leads. NorNorm is a company that rents out office furniture and takes away the burden for companies to put this task on the HR department. During my time here I was able to close a couple deals that I set up from the beginning to the end. 

Buhrs , October 2016 - July 2018.

I was working in the warehouse of the fabric of Buhrs. They make machines that package products, mostly folder packaging. I was working together with the warehouse manager and processing packages that came in and had to be sent, managing stock and helping to modernize their way of keeping track on stock and maintaining stock.

I finished HAVO and did the VWO Mathematics exam during the summer.

After that I started the Bachelor International Business at Hogeschool van Amsterdam where I did the Finance Major and I'm currently doing my exchange in Berlin.
