I've mainly worked in the field of visual design, I love it, yet now I want to further advance my skills through coding. As per most of my creative endeavors, I am self motivated, I love working in collaborative environments, and I'm always seeking an opportunity to learn more and grow.

Hello, I am Cera Kocher, I’m a Developer and Designer looking to fill your position as your Junior Frontend Developer. I graduated in 2021 from Colorado University Boulder with Bachelor's Degrees in Media Production & Media Design with a minor in Creative Technology & Design and now I’m looking to move into a professional space. 

Whether it is design or art, I have always been fascinated at the ability for them to be combined within an interactive medium. This is why web development has piqued my interest, it allows me to create with my design and photography background. My last internship with Boulder Media House, a media production company, allowed me to explore multiple media styles throughout the company for deliverables for clients, ranging from photography to video, and even assisting in the redesign of their current website with Webflow. This allowed me to work in a collaborative environment to combine my multidisciplinary media skills and hone in where my interests lie. 

By the end of my university career, I began to explore the backend side of a lifelong passion of mine, video games. I've started working on my own indie game with another collaborator to combine my multidisciplinary media skills into one in-depth interactive experience. I’m in charge of the entire visual aesthetic from the 2D isometric pixel art style to the UX/UI experience throughout the entire game. Working intimately on an indie game has given me not only a lot of freedom with visual choice, but also a collaborative environment to work with others. It also gives me a frequent look and understanding of how my visual assets are implemented into Unity and coding structures. Not to mention, it has shown me the immense amount of time and learning that goes into learning skills like Game Development. This is another key factor that has fueled my interest in Web Development. I've mainly worked in the field of visual design, I love it, yet now I want to further advance my skills through coding. As per most of my creative endeavors, I am self taught, self motivated, and always seeking an opportunity to learn more. 

This leads up to my most recent experience with Brainnest. As I mentioned before, I am in the Frontend Development Industry Training. Despite having coding courses in the past, this has genuinely been the most helpful experience so far. My Brainnest instructor has encouraged us to work together in groups which has led to much more real situations such as learning the ins and outs of Git/Github, meeting with colleagues while working around language barriers, time zone differences, and knowledge gaps that we inevitably help one another fill in. Additionally we’ve had live feedback on better coding practices and ways to think from the perspective of a client. That all being said, the way this course has been conducted has given me a better insight on how I can improve and learn as a developer, shown me how to work with others technically and socially, given me confidence when facing projects, and most of all has solidified the fact that I want to work as a frontend developer. It’s been very fulfilling and is exactly the kind of work I am looking for.
