I have worked for several large international companies in the energy sector in both technical and project management positions and have worked with many geo-spatial applications. One of the main aspects during my previous roles is to support key decision making by identifying risks ,uncertainties and trends in datasets and presenting them in a structured way, by using 2D/3D GIS applications. Often complex data sets need to be turned into useful tools and simple information. Patterns, trends and correlations may give very important information. For example combining population density , with electricity grid data and geological information can provide useful insights into where to drill for geothermal energy. As a software consultant in Rio de Janeiro I advised many clients on improving tools to manage complex GIS data-sets for the exploration of oil and gas. Recently, I have been working as an independent consultant in the field of GIS and Geothermal data (see GeoTechnic.Solutions). This includes projects for the following organizations; World Wildlife Fund (i.e. making deforestation maps with ARCGIS pro/online, Google Earth Engine using Python scripts and Microsoft Planetary Mapper using large public satellite data-sets that are available from ESA and NASA (see link)), Greenpeace, etc. Other projects include making GIS data-maps for the screening of the potential for renewable energy in Colombia through collaboration with the Colombian Geological Survey and Business Development with other Colombian companies. I have completed a course in 2021 on using satellite imagery and AI for Earth Observation. By using Python scripts and machine learning it is possible to make workflows that optimize the usage of satellite data (e.g. forest fires, tree cover, flooded areas and land subsidence). Currently I also participate in the IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Expert Working Group on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Climate Change. Here I inform on updates to the IRMA Standard for Responsible Mining. IRMA’s multi-stakeholder working groups bring together voices from diverse sectors to exchange perspectives, explore innovative strategies, and identify best practices, with the aim to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions and a socially responsible mining sector. I am a motivated kick-starter with a good sense of humor and I value caring for other people, curiosity, imagination and an adventurous spirit! I consider myself a world citizen and enjoy working with many cultures and in multi-disciplinary teams. I am usually the person connecting people and ideas together and a strong analytical thinker. I look forward to the possibility of working with Algent and the customers that are working towards the UN sustainable development goals and provide them with tools and innovation that can make a difference. In my free time I do volunteer work for refugees by providing translation to Spanish, Portuguese or English. When I lived in Brazil, I also volunteered for projects aimed at ending social injustice and increasing opportunities for poor youth in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
